Probably in the minority but I do NOT like it. Purely for visuals with ASX I prefer XGraphics. Don't know enough technically to explain it but it just didn't look or feel "right" with FEX. Found XGraphics to be superior. When I read the glowing reports from other FEX users I switch back and forth and sadly, do not see what they are seeing. And for the record, I uninistalled, reinstalled etc - it just that I don't like their clouds and water as much as others.Just MHO,VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

When I am forced to reinstall, as in the case earlier when my HD failed, you try to determine what you can do without.Programs like FEX, do not use any resources and you have many options to turn things on/offI especially like being able to change the cloud res.Overall it looks good and I consider it a nice addition but not a MUST HAVE.I am using UTX and GEX which IMO are MUST haves.A close second is X-graphics. The runways, taxiways, sound effects, and all the other graphics options including water make this nice to have.Active Sky has been on mine since it was released way back when but its gone. To many bugs and it uses resources so its history. The guys over there are 1st class and REALLY support their product.I think once this whole FS9/FSX/SP1/SP2/XP/VISTA mess in sorted out,ASX will be back on my system.

So basically you don't fly with real weather because it uses resources.Q6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

I bought it a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Worth every penny.Cheers,Teddie

I have had FEX for a month or two...I don't know if it matters to you, but using the settings provided by www.fs-gs.com IFR is much more realistic. When descending thru an overcast while sharing a cockpit with someone who doesn't have FEX; they see the runway way before I do. Just today I flew into KIAD with a 200 foot ceiling and I could not see the runway lights till 300 AGL. Much more realistic than the default.Best Regards, Donald T.:-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.

>So basically you don't fly with real weather because it uses>resources.>He can still fly with real weather, he can use the built-in Jepp wx.And as you of course probably already know, he could run ASX on a client and it wouldn't bother the FS machine one iota. I can say that because I now run that way, and it's great :)RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

I like FEX.I'd say the #1 problem with default FSX is the water color (no matter what shader mode you run) and FEX allows you to remedy that somewhat.I'd recommend it, unless you're really a penny-pincher.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT
