I thought they fixed this- low FPS returning to departure

Featured Replies

Free Flight Empty Community TLOD 200 OLOD 200 mostly high settings, low airport traffic, low characters

128 GB rolling cache on dedicated NVMe device - almost zero network traffic

start Bonanza cold and dark at Fuel box KBFI  60 FPS while in cockpit and walking around doing pre-flight

60 FPS on departure over Seattle at 3,000

Fly to KYKM (Yakima) with 70+ FPS all the way at 9,000'

and return to KBFI  ILS 32L with 70 FPS at FAF/1,800'

50 FPS over threshold then suddenly 10 FPS and then 5 FPS at touchdown

After leaving runway all the way back to Fuel Box - park plane, shut down, walk around 10 FPS

End Flight - Then do another  Free Flight exactly same settings, same flight, same everything

60+ FPS all the way down the glide slope and 45 FPS all the way to parking at Fuel Box

Walk around, same as above, and never less than 50 FPS

Two identical flights with huge difference after returning to departure

What happens and how do I stop it?

Try the freeware AutoFPS - it will dynamically adjust your LOD settings on descent. It's not a fix for an inherent MSFS bug, but a very elegant workaround. Highly recommended.

Post a screenshot of the Dev mode FPS window when you have the 5 or 10 FPS.

I use it all the time - but in this case I was manually manipulating the TLOD and OLOD - taxiing on the runway with 10 FPS I set the LODs to 50 and buildings/trees to low - made NO difference

I will do that - one at 60 FPS and one at 10 FPS

Is photogrammetry enabled? I'm wondering if it's trying to reload/re-cache data (which really should be in the rolling cache).

Yeah, I will vouch. I have set the TLOD down to basically 40 upon descent and still  had issues...
