May 11, 20251 yr They’re dropping in price rapidly, I managed to get PNY 5090 OC for &1899 new. Perhaps the low price wave will hit AU soon. I think AMD announcement of 10000 series GPU is forcing nVidia and retailers hands … and obviously scalpers

I have the sense that 5090 is not going to be a $2000 card as Jensen Huang promised, and the market price likely will be settling down to around $2500-3000 - by all means an obscene amount of money just for a video card, hard to imagine that we have formally arrived at such a ridiculous price point. 21 hours ago, vonduck said: But, the good wife said i could have one when i wanted...lol so staying in the good books! PNY 5090 OC was one of them (not my preferred option, but). Had many discussions with their support folks about how do I know where I stand in line … needless to say 4+ months later when I finally got the email to purchase, it was at some ridiculous price $3599. I told them when I put myself on the waiting list it was listed at $1899. After more discussions, they finally honored the price from the day one waiting list. I was provided with a “special link” that would expire that had the adjusted price. To add a little more context, I am a VERY good customer for B&H Photo (about $150,000 in camera/audio equipment) so that may have helped (may). But after my purchase I saw Walmart was selling them in stock and plenty available in EU at close to MSRP so I figured supply is finally catching up and my B&H Photo deal was not the exception. And yes, $1899 is still too much especially considering all the issues with 50 series cards and there was no way I was going to purchase from a scalper.
May 12, 20251 yr Wow, you're an extremely lucky customer - I guess your past purchases definitely helped for getting them to honor you the original price. Just checked B&H and indeed plenty 5090 in stock at the moment although all are listed above $3000. The MSI Ventus 3X I bought from Newegg is in stock at B&H for $3049, about $50 more than the Newegg. Anyway, at least those bloody scalpers are getting thrown under the bus - a bit justice served. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
