My old build was a 32GB ram 2080ti but could never get msfs2020 vr to be perfect...so I have turned that rig into a cockpit build as I managed to get my fips and radio panels working with a driver update and Spad.

Update: I am going to upgrade to a 5090...I have seen some results where it out performs in VR. 🙂

Good luck with that ... hopefully you get all your ROPS and don't set your PSU on fire ... recommend you go with Seasonic Platinum PSU 1600 Watt or 2200 Watt.  I'd stick with the 4090 or go with AMD 9070 XT OC (3400Mhz) for a lot less $$$ with equal performance to a 5080.

Replace the motherboard something based on the X870E chipset, you'll get more RAM compatibility options.

For MSFS, go with DDR5 8000 CL38 or better at 2:1 ... you'll see a huge FPS improvement.

I expect only some 10%-15% fps increase over the 4090 in VR, based on only slight hardware improvements and unfortunately no multi-frame-gen in VR

I've been watching results and it seems that the 5090 is only drawing what the system can handle...with 96gb it will be unleashed to the fullest potential. The 5090 is just a grinder no matter what you throw at it. 🙂

Ah! but I am looking specifically for a 5090 FE to put in my already existing system!

Alright went for my first flight today after setting up everything...x-rocker gaming chair, using the velocity one yoke & throttle, pimax crystal light. I followed the settings on the pimax website, and 🙂. I tested around downtown New York, clear skies in the day time...no problem at all on high settings. I still have to tweak a few things. I also have a 2080 ti from my 2020 build running a triple monitor setup with 2 g1000's from summer sky. I got 2 of them since they are hot swappable, and only $395 each plus the audio panel.  I also have the alpha bravo yoke & throttle from honeycomb that locks into the cockpit panel that will house the g1000's. I might go with another panel that has a few (Saitek) fip cutouts...always nice to have some backup indicators. 🙂

Thanks bro! 😝 You finally kicked me over the fence - ordered a MSI 5090 "combo" from Newegg and will receive it next week. It's $2999 for the 5090 plus a $200 powersupply - at least cheaper than those scalpers asking... Eager to see how it drives the Pimax crystal light.
