My experience with MSFS2024 SU2 and Radeon 9070XT (settings)

Featured Replies

I built a new computer featuring an Ryzen 9800X3D, Radeon 9070XT, 64 gigs of ram.  Running on a 48" TV at 4K 3840x2160.  Using MSFS_AutoFPS and after SU2 getting very good results, smooth flight, no stutters, even on short final.  Frames are unlocked and FS3 enabled.  My settings are not maxed out, I backed away from that and honestly don't notice much difference with preference on smoother flight.  My settings if anyone is interested are here. If you are someone that is looking at this card, I would recommend.  I don't think you will get as good a result as a 5090 but very nice sim experience in MSFS2024, no complaints here.

In the screenshots, please keep in mind TLOD and OLOD were lowered on the ground at a payware airport with FSLTL running.  In the air it goes up to 200+ fairly quickly

Thanks for the info.

Am looking at doing a similar build. Have seen many good reports about the 9070XT.

Which brand did you purchase.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 5.2GHz | Gigabyte Aorus Elite RX 9070XT | MSI X870E Edge TI WiFi MB | M.2 NVMe SSD"s 1X1TB/2X2TB/1X4TB | HDD's 2X8TB  | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz | Windows 11 64 Pro

Thanks for the info. I just ordered a system with i9-14900k, also with the 9070XT and 64gb memory. Looking forward to it, will be big upgrade to my 5 year old system. I am just unwilling to pay for a 5090, it would have almost doubled the cost of the entire system.

Purchased the ASRock Tiachi. Was the only one available at time of build but has been great.

Exactly, this is a common sense purchase with good results. If you push the sliders up you end up running out of VRAM.  This card with 24gigs of VRAM would have been much better but it is still good.

The 7900 XTX has 24gb vram but cost twice as much. Still a much better deal than the 5090. I am still using 2020 so I’m not worried about the vram, but the 9070XT has good reviews on 2024. A big upgrade over my 3080 for sure.
