Tin Foil Hat time: Well, its all an amusing academic thingy for me, and harkens back to the simulation hypothesis arguing essentially that at least one of the following propositions is true: The human species is very likely to go extinct before reaching a “posthuman” stage. Any posthuman civilization is extremely unlikely to run a significant number of simulations of their evolutionary history. (or variations thereof) We are almost certainly living in a computer simulation. It follows that the belief that there is a significant chance that we will one day become posthumans who run ancestor‐simulations is false, unless we are currently living in a simulation. A number of other consequences of this possibility have been explored. What tickles my sci-fi and philosophical funny bone is, that assuming we ourselves were/are simulations, it would be ironic if we started running our own reality simulations, which in turn eventually became self aware, and began running their own reality simulations, all of course within the computational limitations of the "authentic" universes computing substrate, however many levels up the chain of reality that might lie..... All very Matryoshka doll-ish! More seriously along this train of thought, I saw a game recently where the NPC's were connected to AI...... Imagine...... We are all connected.....
