i think it would be great if XP12 supported historic real weather, up to say a year ago.

oh, btw, XP12.3.0 will support historic real weather up to a year ago.

Does that mean you can re-fly any route at the same date/time of day, and you'll experience the same weather conditions along the route as the historical date/time? Do you know what the data source for this would be?

I guess their own - LR... They probably started storing the observations and forecasts since at least last year, and from now on will have a 1 yr moving window of stored data (?)

This would be the cheapest and more efficient approach. Of course I'm not sure that's how they're doing it... just a guess...
