Prepar3d v6 - Global HD trees and Terra Flora
You should probably ask your medic about that, not us :) More seriously, concerning the OrbX Terra Flora, I remember I tried to use it for a while, but in the end I was always coming back to the semi-transparent tree textures by A.Leclercq mentioned earlier, because they blended better with the ground textures (both generic or ortho). However, only the conifers were benefiting from this transparency, other tree types were still 100% opaque, leading to sometimes unpleasant results, depending on the quality of the orthos.... EDIT: actually some other types as well, but not as much as the conifers... I just checked some older screenshots. There were also some special sceneries from FranceVFR that brought high-resolution tree textures.... beautiful if you are in the covered area, but not really matching the textures of anywhere else...

VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
Daube replied to Hamish100's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)To get the best VR experience, you need headsets that cost more than 2.000 $, with video card(s) that cost more than 2.000 $. And there I am, running my Pico4 on my GTX1070ti :')

X-World Pro - Q&A with the author...
Fortunately, that means ANYBODY here is allowed to tell you your post above is absolute rubbish. :)

is there any word on a native tms850
Anybody knows how to make the copilot visible in the TBM in MSFS2024 ? The weight is set to 170 in the EFB, but the seat is still empty :/
-
How do we post pictures now?
So we just need to paste the image link ? No need for [img] tags ?

Here we go again.
What are your Onedrive settings ?

is there any word on a native tms850
So, just for information, it seems the BlackSquare TBM for MSFS2020 had received an update to make it compatible with MSFS2024. I completely missed it and just discovered it a few minutes ago, after checking my orders from JustFlight: for my TBM order, a new link appeared to download the MSFS2024 version. Silly me...

World Update 21: Australia Trailer
Guys, seriously, I thought it was obvious but apparently not... PS: apparently the forum refuses me the possibility to post a picture... interesting... Ok I give up trying to post a picture to illustrate, and will just explain here, because it seems people here is unable to understand jokes or sarcasm... 🙄I know very well that Milford Sound is in NZ and that NZ is not Australia, thanks. My post was a way to criticize Asobo that keeps trying to make that area of the globe better while ignoring the fact that the real weather still won't allow us to land in Milford Sound because it's always covered in snow, since several years. And like it or not, New Zealand IS a (big) island near Australia, near enough to make a 2 hours flight to it. Yes it's not as near as Tasmania, sure, but it's still "nearby".

MSFS Gamma annoyance.
I'm wondering why you have to set the gamma to such a high value... Could you post a screenshot showing how 'bad' your cockpit looks like in the shadow ? My gamme is set at +1 only right now, and I'm not having any issues with panel visibility, may it be in 2D or in VR ?...

Clouds after SU5
I love how he just went to his settings, set the cloud from high to ultra, then hit CANCEL instead of save, and then commented that his clouds didn't look any better.... The videos from this kind of expert users are out of my reach...

World Update 21: Australia Trailer
Oh great. Can't wait to make a few flights from Australia to nearby islands and their famous ski stations, like Milford Sound for example...

Underwhelmed by Auto Ortho
You're simply confusing "inefficient" and "impossible". Orthos have nothing to do with "inefficient" or "stone age" technology, but don't worry, all of us here understood you simply hate ortho and you're just trying to find any non-sense to discredit that kind of scenery, and there's no need to argue about that🙂 That being said, you are right when you tell that X-Plane will never include that kind of scenery per default though. It is impossible for them to acquire the necessary data and host it or ship it at once, given the price of the sim. The only "legal solution" is third party scenery products such as OrbX TrueEarth, on top of which the XPlane graphic engine would be able to alter ground colors and add snow coverage to simulate seasons. Too bad Orbx gave up on these products, though 😕 We might imagine some monthly-fee based product that could bring ortho streaming in the sim, a bit like auto-ortho but fully legal and coming with autogen and seasons. Just like the third party AI ATC products for example. However, I'm not sure many people would be interested in such a price model.

MSFS2024: headlamp does not illuminate the interior
Bumping this thread because I could finally identify the origin of the problem. TL;DR: it's the GAS Super Stearman that replaces the MSFS/MSFS2024 default white headlamp by a red one, and that red one is incompatible with MSFS2024. Yesterday I got too much annoyed by this bug, so I restarted the investigations. I ended up renaming my Community folder to "exCommunity" and created a new, empty "Community" folder, in order to disable all of my addons at once. I didn't want to do that in the past because MSFS2024 takes a long time to start on my computer, and I was way too lazy to try the "add some addons, restart, see if the bug is back, etc..." technique. After restarting I noticed the headlamp was white and fully functional again, so I understood I have no choice but to go with the "add some back, restart" method... and it took a while, I restarted almost 10 times the sim, but finally I could find the culprit: it was the GAS Super Stearman that was bringing this red headlamp. And since it's an MSFS2020 addon, it seems the headlamp effect is not compatible anymore with MSFS2024. So that's how I ended with a headlamp that didn't illuminate anything inside the cockpit, and only worked on the ground and the outside elements of the aircraft such as wings, wheels, engine cover etc... I inspected the sub-folders of the GAS Super Stearman and found a fx_flashlight.fx file in the Effects folder. I thought this file was "re-defining" the headlamp for all planes, and that deleting that file would solve the issue... but I was wrong. After deleting that effect file, the headlamp didn't work at all anymore in MSFS2024 for all planes 😞 So I ended up deleting the Super Stearman entirely, which solved the issue. Note that I also have the GAS Stearman (not Super) but I haven't installed it, so I don't know if that model creates the same issue.

Underwhelmed by Auto Ortho
Regarding ortho scenery, i understand Bjoern hates it, ok. However, the description of the flaws made above is quite inaccurate. First of all, the lack of resolution varies a lot depending on the altitude and the regions. And even at its worst, it's still way better than genetic textures that look nothing like the actual place. Even with incorrect colours and slight lack of resolution, ortho textures still bring a consistency that cannot be achieved with generic textures. Concerning the autogen objects, yes sometimes there are a few missing buildings or houses here and there, but saying that it looks worse than "normal" default XP autogen is wild 😄 And in any case, it's not related to ortho, although a part of it was generated (not live) from ortho picture analysis for all the places where precise coverage was not available. In any case, much better than any generic stuff. Finally, a word about the seasons and the "lack on night textures"... Seasons for ortho textures are indeed done by shaders: the grounf color is altered, and the autogen trees are adjusted as well. Snow is even added on top, with a nice gradual effect. What more do you get from generic ground textures here ? Nothing at all. And for the night textures... why would you need night textures ??? Modern graphic engines like Xp11/12 and MSFS use real light sources, the autogen objects (light poles and such) will illuminate the ground and surrounding objects where needed and as needed... exactly like your genetic ground textures (for which no "night" version exist, if I'm not mistaken. You might confuse with older sims like FS9, FSX, or P3D which did need night ground textures indeed.

Problem with scenery when loading P3D
The "no such account exists" message is scary... are you absolutely sure you are using the correct email account to identify there ? Just to be sure, have you tried to go to a microsoft webpage and see if you can identify there ? I'm thinking for example about the main Microsoft home page, for example.

Problem with scenery when loading P3D
The fact that you are not getting a desktop displayed is really weird. Your installation might be corrupt indeed but I'm not sure what to recommend. You said the Windows menu appears with the keyboard action, so could it be that you have simply enabled the auto-hide function of the toolbar ? Or could it be that your screen resolution has not been recognized properly and everything is there but off screen limits ? If you right click on that black background, do you get a mouse menu with access to "properties" or "Display settings" or something like that ?

Problem with scenery when loading P3D
I was reading this topic but I am a bit puzzled. First of all, I don't understand the comment about "The new version of Windows unrecognisable, the interface is unrecognisable.". What is this new version you're mentioning here ? I'm using Windows10 at home and Windows11 on my laptop and hardly see any differences, excepted in the "Start" menu 😕 Then about OneDrive, I have it active on both my computers, and its role is only to duplicate my files to the cloud. My files stay on the computer until I specifically ask OneDrive to "free up space", which gets rid of the file on the computer to keep only the copy on the cloud. There's a configuration in OneDrive that lets you specify which folders should be duplicated to the cloud. My sim folder is not included in the list, for example. This is most-likely the kind of configuration you might want to inspect to ensure it's not trying to duplicate useless folders. I have never faced any access issues, so you might want to check if your OneDrive is configured properly, if everything is up to date and finally if you are correctly identified/logged on the the Microsoft online services.

What Mouse Are You Using in VR
I confirm OpenXR Toolkit works 100% fine with MSFS2024. It's just "not supported" in a sense that it won't receive any new updates from its author, that's all. But the current version works just fine. If the CTRL+TAB (enter/exit VR mode) causes a crash, I would simply suspect one of these two: 1- the OpenXR runtime installation (NOT the toolkit) and related setup (i.e. to get rid of SteamVR and such) 2- the video drivers, eventually.

What Mouse Are You Using in VR
I'm using a simple (simplest?) wireless mouse from "Logicool" with just two buttons and a scroolwheel, and I don't have issue. Sometimes, I do face the cursor not reacting, jumping around, lagging etc.... but that's only when the mouse is getting too far from its blutooth dongle while the mouse battery is getting low. Once I replace/recharge the battery, all comes back to normal.

A study level helo…? You had me at “study”
I'm in the same case, I do not have MSFS2020 on my computer anymore, and some kind of technical issues can get really irritating to me. That's why I prefer to wait for the actual MSFS2024 version, just to be on the safe side... 🙂

Looks Like I'll Return to 2020
Yes and no. The thing is, if he posts screenshots that looks absolutely fine to us, then we can be sure the problem lies in his screen color/contrast/light settings. If however his screenshots look terrible also to us, then we know the problem is not linked to his screen settings but more his sim graphic settings, or NVidia settings, or any postprocessing tools (reShade) etc... if any.
