How to adjust the GNS530 screen display in the C172?

Featured Replies

I went to the AUX page group but cannot access the Display Backlight selection by twisting the small knob. My display is barely readable at night.  I have the latest version of MSFS 2024.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I can't make this work either. I do notice a slight anomaly that might suggest it's doing something, but is probably buggy. When you see the display with AUTO mode highlighted, rotating the small knob appears to do nothing BUT a one-pixel horizontal line appears just above the word COM at the top of the display. It kind of looks like this is the bottom of a data field that is displayed in the wrong place, so who knows what's going on. Maybe if there's a way to edit the gauge someone can fix this. It seems to do the same in FS2020 and 2024.

Nice link. Thank you.

I tried to follow the instructions but this didn't solve the problem. Apparently, it's still a bug in the Basic variant of the Cessna 172 in MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe. Hopefully someone will be able to help with simpler instructions? @Bert Pieke @MattNischan ?

This reminds me of someone that used to work for me who drove me crazy. He helped non-technical users by instructing them how to solve an issue by editing the Windows registry.
