Stutters in Menue since SU3

Featured Replies

I don't have of the negative symptoms reported above. However one annoyance was that SU3 introduced altered assigned command modifiers. Namely the "repeat" modifier was turned ON when it used to be set to OFF before SU3. So that commands that should have been sent once to the controller and then stop kept sending the command. This was causing what sort of like was stutters. I had to examine the assignments and modify a couple back to non repeat.

The main ones were increment flaps and decrease flaps. The modifier (ships wheel shows the modifiers) was set to repeat. I turned that off and all was well. I don't know why going to SU3 changed the modifiers from off to on.

But anyway, I have no hesitations or oddities in the main window where you set up the flight.

I can deal with menu or UI stutters - as long as my sim flying is smooth.

Indeed. And i hope it continues this way :)

I’ve found that having traffic set to “real-time online” rather than “offline” is causing the big stutters and freezes in SU3 for me (in flight, the menu freezes are caused by GSX for me and don’t happen when I unlink GSX).

I only use ship and road traffic anyway and all other sliders off (characters, ground equipment and aircraft with fauna also off). BATC injects the aircraft traffic.

Switching to offline has solved these 1-2 second freezes I got in flight randomly. Now despite a complete windows reinstall I still have the FPS regression issue discussed at length on the MSFS forums. I can reproduce it 100% of the time, i.e. take off from KPHL, do a circle over the city and land back. When I take off I have rock solid 60FPS (locked), when I land back 10 minutes later they’re all over the place and usually average 45-50. Same thing happens if I fly to somewhere else, even tiny default airports - FPS just keep declining substantially over time.

Hopefully the traffic finding helps someone with stutters/freezes. So far no one has found a workaround for those impacted by FPS regression.
MS really need to get their act together, acknowledge these issues properly and push a hotfix ASAP (the FPS regression one has 400+ votes on the MSFS forums)!
