November 21, 200817 yr Well, add 2 years to that and you'll be spot on!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
November 21, 200817 yr 1. Support for non-US Air Traffic Services - FIS, RIS, RAS etc. Ditto for aerodrome services - Air/Ground, AFIS etc. Get rid of global "flight following" (ugh!)2. Support for European low level Class A airspace. 3. ATC Support for SVFR4. Ability to declare emergencies, say no to ATC instructions etc.5. Transition Altitudes appropriate to location6. Better support for millibars (ie allow millibars + Nautical Miles) It would be even better if ATC used appropriate units for the region.7. Updatable Nav data, including approaches, runway number changes, ICAO code changes etc8. Better transitions in the weather engines, for both clouds and winds. Support for decent undercast layers.9.In fact, a better weather engine altogether. The way the weather changes globally from (say) clear to overcast to clear in rapid succession is just laughable.10. Support for icing: airframe, engine, window, with visuals and performance impact. Also support various deicing methods (weeping wing, boots etc)11. Snow that lays.12. Please shoot whoever came up with the awful "desert" textures we have to endure in FSX Autumn/Winter seasons, and either go back to FS9 textures, or employ someone who knows what the colour green looks like. England is only ever brown for about 2 weeks during Harvest!13. Airports that follow terrain (e.g sloping runways, taxiways, aprons etc).14. Better brakes so the aircraft don't roll off the sloping aprons (or add support for chocks)15. Better scenery design support for developers, to include easy to make ground polygons, customisable texture layering, customisable... etc.16. Support for pilot controlled airport lighting (including regularly lit airports, for example to turn off the PAPIs for night flying training)17. Fix problems with draw distances for lights.18. Get rid of that horrible 2000ft bounce on "crashing". I'd much rather just slide to a halt if my nose gear fails thankyouverymuch.19. If we have to have cute bunnies, birds etc, at least add support for birdstrikes and appropriate damage.20. A Map mode that doesn't pause the sim, and bigger (resizable) map/flight planner windows - on m odern high res screens the curren map is the size of a postage stamp!21. Show more VFR features on flight planner (roads, railways, towns, VRPs etc)
November 21, 200817 yr Ditto everything Tim suggests plus bring back drag/dropable tower viewregards Jim
November 21, 200817 yr This imho underpins all else, because this whole thread shows the paradox of this franchise. Satisfying demand for greater and greater functionality and visual fidelity throughout the whole fs package while not committing the cardinal sin of eating fps to the point of a mandatory upgrade to the cutting edge.regards,Mark Regards, Mark
November 21, 200817 yr What is everyone's fascination with being able to declare emergencies? I'd much rather have the ability to ask for deviations for weather and decline a clearance or instruction.Frankly, there's no need for SVFR in FSX. If you want to take off and the weather meets SVFR standards, just take off. It isn't like the FAA is going to come take your virtual license.
November 21, 200817 yr If I could have just one thing....REALISTICALLY SCALED TREES (and all autogen, actually). It seems to me that 200 ft. trees are really not so common in the real world. ;-) Whatever the benefits of large autogen (I suppose they help fill out the 3d scene more fully), what's lost by it, namely a true sense of scale and speed, far outweighs that benefit. At least in my mind. Resizing them should be easy to do, right? And why is there no good addon for FSX that shortens the trees... or is there and I've just missed it?
November 21, 200817 yr As mentioned in this thread a few weeks ago:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=457457&page=4You can get more realitic autogen size, more realistic field of perspective depending on the aircraft, and sharper textures if you reduce the default fs zoom of 1.0 to something less.GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 21, 200817 yr I agree-and with all the emergencies I've had I never declared one. Just causes a lot of messy paperwork for everyone.GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

If you want to take>off and the weather meets SVFR standards, just take off. It>isn't like the FAA is going to come take your virtual license. There certainly is if you include Class A support. There's lots of airports around London, and the Channel Islands you'd never get to without SVFR. Also, since the minima are higher, you're more likely to get declined (see above). Also, since night VFR isn't allowed in this part of the world, you'd need SVFR to fly in Class D at night.Frankly I don't care about the virtual FAA. The virtual CAA though, is a different matter... ;-)
November 22, 200817 yr If your svfr is denied are you going to shut the sim down and scrub the flight? :-)GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 22, 200817 yr My wishlist would simply be to make FS11 a Flight Simulator, instead of a Flying Adventure Game with jumping giraffs and such. ;-)Especially:1. Better EPR variable logics.2. 2D cockpit sideviews3. Much better weather graphics 4. Cloud shadows5. Intelligent ATC6. Intelligent AIAnd maybe a little eye candy like frosen lakes at winter and 3D snow. :-)Oh,...I forgot.....curved runways. November 22, 200817 yr Should I give you my notam this morning of deer on the runway or mention a near crash I witnessed this summer while waiting to takeoff by a bird strike, or post once again my picture of coyote warning at the airport?By the way-I only use the sim as a simulator-I get tired of the animal analogy. The increased resolution and smoothness of instruments in the vc is just one way reality got upped in this version-how can you fly realistically ifr without this?GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

November 22, 200817 yr Not true. There are random bird flocks at airports and near water, and all species can easily be added with ezscenery. But since you don't use fsx I wouldn't expect you would know that.GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 22, 200817 yr Moderator My wishlist is minimal. The same frames rates in FS11 as I have now in FS9 - never below 30 with everything maxxed. There's no point in all these fancy extras if the basic flight sim engine crawls along at 10-15fps on finals into a major airport with a reasonable amount of Ai.FSX has been the most humungus dogs dinner regarding DX10 and the ideal OS. Hopefully in 2 years time Windows 7 will be stable and Aces can deliver a product that really performs. Until then I shall stay with FS9 and XP.As for better ATC just get Radar Contact. You'll never get a working CDU with a default 737 so expecting more sophisticated ATC is not realistic. It's too complex for the average punter.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
