Tried reshade for fs2020 but it never worked

Featured Replies

Hello fellow simmers,

Does anyone know how to successfully install reshade for msfs2020? I'm done with Nvidia filters after getting random ctd and low fps.

I tried different reshade versions and pointed to 2 different .exe files (I use the steam version of msfs) but none of these were successful.

Either the launch button for reshade didn't do anything or my game window turned to black and white without any reshade menu visible. I successfully installed reshade many times in different games.

Thanks a lot for any hints and tips!

Cheers

I just install it and select 2024 in the install process and it worked. Hit the HOME button to bring it up in the sim.

That's exactly what I did but did nothing at all. I'm on fs2020 btw.

Which .exe file did you point to in reshade application? I use steam version so I can startup msfs from steam folder or from Microsoft folder on my C drive.

Which shaders did you install in reshade?

Thanks a lot!

Install saw both 2020 and 2024

Check this out as well - ReShade gave me as much trouble as NVidia filters but not this.  A simple way to add sharpening which improves the image as well as anything out there.

Thanks I'll give that a go.

I was looking for filters for saturation and contrast however. That's why I decided to give reshade another try because it did wonders in other games I've played

I actually was getting CTD with it after installing some new presets.  Have not had any issues once I removed it.  YMMV

I use an older version of ReShade (6.3.3.1924) as the more recent ones crashed the sim when exiting a flight or entering the menus quite often.

Using MS Store version of MSFS 2024, same before with 2020. Have to link ReShade to the GameLauncher.exe though that's due to security permissions with the Store version.

Filters I use are:

- FinalLight.fx (realistic lighting)

- LumaSharpen.fx (sharpens things well - the default sim is so soft)

- Levels.fx (for contrast)

- Daltonize.fx (for colour enhancement)
