Weather Radar Fenix A320

Featured Replies

So after the Fenix update a couple of months ago, it now appears we can get somewhat of a weather radar display. I've been seeing the weather areas actually trying to run away from me. Meaning there's no way I could fly directly into one of those area's of heavy precip. I'm currently departing KCHS on VATSIM. Any of the Fenix drivers see this before ?

It might be the METAR and live weather not matching each other

Maybe. Flew into KFLL. First time seeing lightning in a while. Looked pretty cool.

The WXR radar is not very accurate because you can't use the tilt, so you can't see the real weather above or below your flight path.

I thought it was just me.   KCLT to KBOS and after takeoff, had a solid line of heavy precip.  It seem that I never actually got close to it and it finally went away.   Did the return flight and the same thing happened.   I thought it was just some weird glitch at my end.

Note that Fenix is using default weather radar that Asobo gave access to 3rd party devs (no other alternative). The reason why the weather appears to be running away is due to the fact that you're actually not on the actual level as the weather layer. The radar is using a fixed conical return from the plane. The further you are from the plane the more wider the radar covers, so you'll potentially get more returns vertically as you view further away.
