My private weather station helps 747 pilot.

Many of you will have noticed I run a private weather station with info in my signature. It’s viewed by many people around the world but one of the most memorable was when a 747 pilot checked my weather shortly before pushing back from JFK back on this date in 2018 for his flight to Manchester. I live 3 miles from EGCC.

We’d met at the Cosford Flight Sim Show a few weeks earlier. Nice touch from @jon b 👏

Ha yes, I remember that. Those were happy days flying the 747 at Manchester, I miss them greatly.

I seem to recall I was looking at the potential for early morning autumnal mist and fog for our arrival. Ray’s weather station gives accurate 0.1C readings so it’s useful for spotting trends, much more granular than airport reports. ( for the benefit of any passing CAA inspectors Ray’s weather station was checked IN ADDITION to the official TAF & METAR 😉)

7 years ago, wow that’s gone by quickly.

Time and technology stands still for none of us Jon.  I hope you've got used to the 787 and get to some reasonably pleasant locations. Pity there are no more shows where we can get together.

Sadly not Howard but he did invite me to his home where I enjoyed a nice brew and a play with his ThrustMaster TPR pedals acquired at Cosford. Despite their excellence I’m still happy with my ancient but accurate CH Pro Pedals. 😁

I do remember someone saying that the last time Jon saw a moth was when he opened his wallet!

If you hear a low flying 787 over your place you know who the pilot is! 🤣
