Issue with unstable aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi , I am using a Thrustmaster T.flight Hotas 4 joystick which i have used for approx 4 years now, over the last month , I have had an issue when if your turning left or right while flying , the back end of the plane will start swaying from side to side and this may even happen without touching the joystick when taking off and the plane will pull left or right. I have reduced the sensitivity in the joystick settings with no effect ,  This will happen on any plane

I have uninstalled the joystick and reinstalled it, I have changed the weather from live to a sunny day , I am totally at a loss .  Any ideas .  I have yet to try it on Auto pilot but i do prefer to fly the plane on manual  .

The aircraft that i mainly fly is the lvfr a330

On another note , I always had this issue when flying the MSFS 787, So i gave up using it

I am using the MSFS2020 and i have the game on a different hard drive

Thank you for any help

For you to see this for so long, with every aircraft, it must be a control binding issue.   It sounds like something is applying full deflection on the rudder in both directions.   Have you looked in the settings to ensure that your control assignments aren't duplicated.   I had an issue years ago, where my throttles would keep jumping around or pulling right back when taking off!   I had the Logitech throttle quad and all seemed fine with it.      Then I discovered that there was an assignment on my Thrustmaster T-1600 joystick's little throttle slider (that I never used).   It was set up as throttle, as well as the assignment for the throttle quad!  So both axes were fighting eachother.

It sounds like you have something similar going on.   I would go into control settings and check every single button and axis.  Make sure you don't have any slider or button assigned that is not intended.

Have you tried (as an experiment) setting the "auto rudder" on in the MSFS assistance settings?   Just to see if that resolved the issue?

I have just been trying many things But what i have found is the joystick L Axis X was fluttering around all the time to the right and it has now corrected itself , but the plane is still unstable , So it can't be that . I will inc a photo, It made me think that maybe there is a fault with the joystick.  I have also tried on the easy settings to hard settings.

I did complete one flight over in St Lucia and all was OK , So maybe weather issues.

Here is a photo of the L Axis X and thats when i wasn't touching the joystick

Maybe take a look in the outside view and see if the rudder is moving when the issue happens? That will tell you what the sim "thinks" you're doing with the rudder.

This addon will show what your controls are doing. I had a t Flight for a while and I had to regularly take it apart and fiddle with the wires to stop the twist rudder axis being unstable.

It looks like its the rudder at fault, When banking to the right , The rudder will fully go to the right , I don't get this issue banking left

You likely have a conflicting control input. Check your control setup.

Its either that or i have a faulty joystick.   I have just tried a Logitech 3D Pro extreme and everything works fine.

Regards conflicting control input , I have deleted all profiles, I have deleted files in explorer , So i will just try and work it out

Its always a risk taking things apart incase i can't get it back together or else i would strip the joy stick down and have a hoover inside incase any dust is effecting the controls
