November 23, 2025Nov 23 Does the Nvidia 4090 FE have DP 2.1 support via firmware now? I know it does DP 1.4a. A friend of mine bought 3 32'' to find out that, for DP 2.1, actually, a hardware change on the 4090 FE is required to be able to go to a higher bandwidth. NVIDIA informed him that DP 1.4a is a limitation. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 No-three 1.4 dp's and one 2.1 hdmi. Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 Perhaps a misunderstanding, he's asking about DP 2.1 compatibility, and this is what NVIDIA said: The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition features three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. It does not support the newer DisplayPort 2.0 or 2.1 standard. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Want to make sure that no firmware/driver update may have enabled the/a DP 2.1 port/s. I would also assume backwards compatibility too. Lots of hope on the Nvidia forms for this but have found nothing, nor any other computer forum so far. More Nvidia money grab. The 50.xx and forward do/will have the DP 2.1 ports. So looks like the PC32UCDM will be it. No sads really, save $400 on this one. Only difference in the 2 is the DP 2.1 and cost. @Bob Scott you know anything more about this? i9-13900KS | ASUS Z790 Maximus | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity | G-Skill DDR5-7200 CL34 2x16 | Nvidia 4090 FE | Samsung 990 Pro x 2

November 27, 2025Nov 27 The good news is that the display port supports for most monitors will support stuff like gsync/freesync while HDMI I have heard can cause some trouble. Thankfully, those display ports work just fine for three monitors.
