BeyondATC vs SayIntentions for MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

Hello,

I presently own beyondatc for ATC and traffic injection. While overall a great improvement over the default atc, there are shortcomings. One of my pet peeves is that the program doesn't always recognize the proper TRACON for certain airports. For example, KJFK is served by New York approach control, but beyondatc refers to it as Kennedy Approach. I've mentioned this on their discord site, but there doesn't seem to be any appetite on their part to provide any real improvement for such issues. Their are numerous other cases where the TRACON is either incorrectly identified, or in some cases, CENTER acts as the TRACON (e.g. KPIE, which is served by Tampa Approach, but Miami Center handles TRACON services). Additionally, if the AFCAD provided by the scenery developer is lacking, the AI traffic injection won't work properly, or in the worst case, you won't be able to utilize beyondatc when planning a flight to a particular airport (KTEB, KBCT to name a few). For those with SayIntentions, are these non issues with that program or are there similar issues? I'm thinking of making the switch but don't want to exchange one headache for another. Many thanks for your inputs in advance.

Jermaine

Say Intensions is no more perfect. None of them are.

Choose the one that fits your needs best.

You can subscribe to SayIntensions for a month and decide from there.

What's a TRACON?

Terminal RAdar Approach CONtrol.

Its the facility that handles arrivals and departures, typically 12,000 feet and below.

I'd throw FSHud in the ring as well. IMHO, they have become a serious contender to BATC and SI.

Hi,

Have you used SayIntentions? Are they at least better with correct TRACON information at most airports? (especially a major airport such as KJFK)?

In VFR, not really. SOCAL, xxx_approach, you shouldn't expect the exact correct one. Even if the airspace is define somewhere, Say.Intentions mixed some stuff, for example, class Bravo west of KMYF for the place I know in real world.

Spending time with Say.Intentions since the public Beta, I learnt among the months, to cope with it and lower a lot of over-expectations on AI system. It's way from imaging they can't approach perfection. I barely have a flight without the temptation to open a ticket or highlight room for improvement. On the other, to not misunderstand my reply, if I want the maximum VFR immersion, I can't virtually fly without Say.Intentions 😉

Ok, many thanks for your detailed reply. I will probably test it for a month and see how it compares to beyondatc. I'm a real world pilot as well, so I guess my bar is set pretty high in terms of what's expected (realism pertaining to certain operations).
