Any way to edit PMDG sounds?

Featured Replies

As soon as you apply just the slightest left or right input while taxiing, the airplane sounds like a 20t snow plow on hard ground.
Any way to edit the sound file?
In previous versions, you could just pick the right sound file, edit it using Gold Wave to volume=0 and you were good.
Seems like the 2024 version of the PMDG737 has got just a single audio file?

Any tips on how to edit it is much appreciated!

I think the only way to edit the sounds is using specialist Wwise tools.  I've tried a few times but the CFG files I've managed to find and open don't have any volume / gain levels included.

You can disable specific sound in XML. Find a name of the specific sound (like nose gear skid, or similar), and delete the whole part of it. It requires a bit of XML knowledge what to delete exactly. If you can't do it, I can help you when I have the time to look into their XML. I'm currently busy with MaddogX soundpack update.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Wait for Boris's sounds to become available...

Thanks a lot, I've already had a look into the xml but was too afraid to delete something without being fully sure what to delete.
Already found a solution: I've just had to copy+paste the sound file and the xml from the MSFS2020 and drop it into the 2024 folder and it works just fine that way.

Edit: outsmarted myself, obv CPDLC incoming message is gone now 😂
Would appreciate if you share your knowledge to the community, I'm not sure if I'm the only one bothered by this "excessive taxi input" sound.

Looks like Boris' soundset is available with a simple workaround for those who already purchased the aircraft and the soundset for 2020:

I saw that, thanks! Lovely to be able to use the soundset at Christmas ☺️
