Honeycomb Alpha Yoke strange behavior (FS 2024)

Featured Replies

Hello,

At times the hat switch of my Honeycomb Alpha yoke is unresponsive for a few seconds in the cockpit view. In the external view, it works fine so I tend to rule out a poor contact. That is strange. I changed he RJ 45 cable but it did not fix the problem. Any idea?

I had the same problem. The plug from the yoke loosens and loses connection after age and use. I just wedged paper to tighten up the connection and mine has been working fine since. Every once in awhile I have to readjust the wedge.

edit: check both ends of the cable between the yoke and the base

Hope this helps

If you have not done so make sure you clean up all the assignments for the switches.  You can test by using search by input where you cycle the switch and see what (all) the search function returns. More than one operation?  Also seperately search for the operaton to see if you have it assigned to more than one switch.  May not be the issue you are experiencing, but easy to find out.  If you are using more than one control, such as an Alpha and a Bravo, or any separate controllers/pads, check for duplicates/conflics across all of them.

Hello guys,

Thanks to your suggestions, I checked my POV assignements and the cockpit look left was incorrect. Instead of look left it was  look left and down. Somehow I had not pressed the POV in the left side only direction. If the assignements columns were larger, I would have spotted this error in the text. Now it works fine. Thank you

The day my Alpha yoke arrived, before using it,  I did this to make sure internal damage would not occur:

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

The idea is to take forces off of the connectors. I used an  12" super flexible flat Ethernet cable. These are the cheapest and the most flexible. I think it cost me about $2. Any length cable tie will do because you snip the end off of the cable tie after you tighten it down. But the Ethernet cable should be about 12" long.

Using a flat cable will mean that you don't lose any travel on center shaft of the yoke. Because it will just slide.

Yes I did that but in my case it was a programming mistake on my part. When I first saw this yoke I thought that the cable being outside the axis was a design flaw. It turns out that it can cause issues. Nevertheles, I bought it because of the very good reviews. It is a good yoke but not perfect. I find it realisticand don't regret my purchase.

As for right now, anyone who doesn't already have a good yoke, the CLS-60 force feedback yoke is $300. The CLS-120 is not a good idea because the 60 version has tremendous forces. you don't need your arm jerked out of joint with a 120, LOL.
