9850X3D MSFS2024 Benchmarks

Featured Replies

Seems to be the new Nr. 1, even overtakes the 9950X3D in MSFS2024 according to THW: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amd-ryzen-7-9850x3d-review/2

Still waiting for the 9950X3D2, it might set the bar even higher by overtaking the lead from the 9850X3D again. We will see 😉

Greetings, Chris

Me too, sometime March I think?  Rumors are $899 so about $2200-$2500 scalped because we know supply will be limited.

But no GPUs this year, 2027 it seems and probably cost 2X more than current gen at retail and 5X scalper.  For those with smaller PC budgets, buying a new PC in 2026 is NOT going to be fun.  I was looking for another 20TB HDD yesterday for my NAS and the price was $579 ... the exact same 20TB HDD I got last year for $239.  Also looked at a Samsung 9100 8TB NVMe at over $1000 now when I got one it was $489.

The 9850X3D is basically an overclocked 9800X3D.

Agree, suggest waiting for the 9950X3D2 … that 192MB L3 Cache (vs. 128MB L3 of the 9950X3D) should be a big benefit for MSFSF 2024.

Current reports suggest 7% increase on average for the 9950X3D2 but MSFS 2024 seems to benefit more from a large L3 Cache so I’d expect a higher improvement (especially when it comes to AI air traffic).

I decided to upgrade my 7950X3D to a 9950X3D, since scalping prices on the new 9950X3D2 were looking ridiculous. Newegg gave me $310 trade-in for the 7950 so it was a $350 upgrade.

With my 7950 I was able to run 72fps (2x FG) with 150 TLOD and a mix of mostly medium and high settings. With the 9950 I am able to run 200 TLOD with every setting on ultra and i can mostly maintain 80fps (2x FG). Butter smooth and kicking up all the eye candy made a huge difference.

The 9950 does run hotter. I was maintaining 51 C with the 7950 but the 9950 runs around 55 C.

Well worth the money, so the X3D2 should rock.

1080p benchmarks then people run their simulator at 4k and any difference simply goes away. A 7800x3D which is way more efficient than a 9800x3D will perform about 3-5% less.

Why do they even run benchmarks at 1080p which most people don't even use? I know the idea is to remove any GPU limitations, but it's stupid nevertheless because it doesn'r reflect real use for most.
