How do I set up to take a screenshot?

Featured Replies

If you are using Steam and MSFS2024 in combination, then I use F12 as the screenshot key.

On full size keyboards the PrintScreen key is usually the one on the very top row above the 'Insert'. On your keyboard it looks like it may be labelled with a 1 and a symbol. I don't mean the number 1 key on the left of the keyboard. The insert key is above the left hand arrow key between the main part of the keyboard and the keypad. If you can find the one I mean try pressing it and see if it takes a screenshot. I suspect it is just the PrtSc key with a different icon.

Don't try installing extra things yet. There are probably several apps that you already have that will take screenshots, ie Steam, Xbox, GPU driver software. Also msfs has lots of screenshot capability built in especially if you are on 2024.

Thanks, ok, I found it. But if I press that particular key by itself nothing happens. Does it save a screenshot somewhere besides Pictures?

If I press the "Start" key and that other key all it does is bring up the Taskbar.

I'd like to know how to use the built in one in 2024 as that's the most important one to me. What bugs me is all I did was get a new PC. Same keyboard, same MSFS 2024, the only thing that is different is now I have Windows 11 instead of Windows 10.

Thanks.

There are two ways, the Print Screen key which then requires that you open an image editor, such as
the included Paint and click on Paste, or the much better, easier and also included "Snipping Tool".
With that, you can select all or a part of a screen and then save the image  to a location of your choice.
It does videos as well.
You will find the Snipping Tool under "S" in your start menu list.
I have sent mine to the Taskbar for ease of use.

Too much work as compared to last week's PC. All I did was assign one button on my orb weaver and bam, screenshot sent directly to Pictures. It worked in all programs and Windows.

It must be a Windows 11 thing which bugs the %$#@ out of me.

The internet says Windows key and Print Screen sends a picture to Pictures\Screenshots.
My keyboard doesn't have a Windows key

I just bought a keyboard with an actual Print Screen key on it.
