WASM Crash

Featured Replies

Just had my first WASM crash while flying the PMDG737-800. 25 previous flight without incident. Any ideas about what to check? How common are these errors?

Hi Jim:

Are you in MSFS2024?

Since late 2025 and in early 2026, the WASM related crashes have become rather common, especially in MSFS2024. Though predominantly limited to the iniBuilds A340/A350, they have also affected the PMDG 777 (for some users). I was not aware of any for the 737-800.

I had my first orange WASM crash in the A340 two weeks ago, since, then no re-occurrence of it. Did you see the Orange Screens, or an (overall) avionics and system freeze?

See below for a post started by JYW, that has some suggestions for fix, in Page 4 of the long thread.

Good luck...!

Yep, MSFS2024.  Orange screens, lost control and started a rapid descent.  I quit the sim at that point.  I submitted a ticket to PMDG and will try again tomorrow.

I had a couple of WASM crashes in the A340, once on the ground (general freeze of avionics), and once in flight (orange screens).

For some users, deleting the WASM folder etc. suggested in the above thread has worked, at least, in the case of iniBuilds a/c.

I’m on Xbox, and fly the PMDG 777 often w/o any such issues. I don’t own the 738 in MSFS2024.

Apparently, there are now discussions about WASM crashes in the PMDG Forums.

...Unfortunately of the five or so flights done in this plane in 2024 3 of them ended in a CTD, and one a WASM crash, and one actually made it to the arrival gate.  One that crashed was about 4h into the route when it CTD.  I did the file verification and it checked out so perhaps it's time to do a complete uninstall and reinstall as this isn't happening with the other 4 airliners flown regularly.

You're not alone, Noel. There was a thread here recently by a member, who had CTD exclusively with the PMDG 777, but not with the (iniBuilds) Airbus a/c.

I last flew long-haul (post SU4), with the 777, a month or so ago, so, I need to fly it again to see that all is ok for myself with this one, considering that I am seeing new WASM reports lately, not just with the 777, but also with the 738, as on this post.

Not alone receiving WASM crashes on the 738 got one an hour into flight and one during descent luckily within sight of the airport so was able to finish.

Yes, I started it.
