Beta Test: Old FFB joystick (ffb on) Linux - MSFS 24/XP12

The crashes are finally sorted, as far as I can tell. Multiple users are reporting success now, and my test harness can no longer crash it on my system.

Beta 10 will now be polished up for launch. Going to make it a bit easier, add some more profiles to start with, clean up the help page and all that.

If you still have any crashes, get in touch. I want this to be as resilient as possible.

  • Really impressed with this program, Jonathan.  I really like the fact that your program allows the Microsoft FF2 joystick to have an excellent spring effect so that the joystick centers beautifully.

FFB-Bridge 1.0.0-beta.11 is now live.

Brief notes (https://ffb-bridge.com/docs/changelog for more)

Major UI changes - Dashboard, Profiles, Help completely reworked to make it easier to use.

Technical-side - Beta 11 also tightens the reliability path: the Dashboard controls now stay stable under 50 Hz telemetry updates, pause/frozen-sim handling keeps a neutral spring instead of dropping the stick limp, and profile/effect settings are wired cleanly through the active tunables path.

Also - something new is coming soon to help those who want more hardware support Logitech G940) and more sims added.. stay tuned. Couple more days of polish needed on that.

You can grab the new Linux AppImage or Windows installer from:

I'm having trouble keeping up with the betas!😃

Actually, I'm having trouble keeping up with flight simming whilst the sun is shining...

I’d be outside too. Still a bit chilly in Toronto. Though almost there .. all the flowers are out.

Jonathan,

I just want to make sure I give you a big "THANK YOU" for all the hard work and obvious dedication you put into this project.  I've used all your betas and I fly every day using my beloved Microsoft FF2 joystick with your wonderfully detailed software.  The ability to tweak and adjust this software to your individual liking makes it hugely unique.

Your obvious aviation intelligence is evident in this program, and I only hope more and more simmers take the plunge and acquire a Microsoft FF2 joystick however they can!  Ebay is the only option now, and if the "dead" joystick users begin to realize what force feedback brings to the realism of this hobby, I'm sure you will see a run on the MSFF2 joysticks. Perhaps Microsoft will get the gist of this successful project and decide to manufacture a NEW state of the art FF joystick for our simming future .

Can't imagine flying without it.

Hey Stan,

I really appreciate the kind words. This thing started out purely as idea for myself to use on my own machine, but I'm so glad I did the work to share it with the community.

Hearing things like this from you and many others (got LOTS of great feedback) has really encouraged me to improve the app. When I built it for myself, it was a command line program with basically zero usability features, and I would never have put in the effort to make it better - it worked, right? But knowing that other people like it, and use it, and want it to improve.. that's motivating.

I have many more ideas brewing now, and you'll be seeing some more stuff come out soon.. stay tuned! And thank you once again for being an early user and providing great feedback!

Btw - not applicable to you perhaps - the site is now available in many languages - Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese. The app is still in English for the moment; the website was translated with AI and it's mostly fine as most people are tolerant of silly errors on a website, but translating the software needs more care and human review and proper expertise. I'll do that by and by when there's enough demand. But at least international users can read about the app in their own language.

Beta 14 is out!

https://ffb-bridge.com

Brief notes ( Changelog — FFB-Bridge docs for more)

  1. Logitech support added for three sticks - no idea if it works, need your feedback.

  2. App is now properly signed with a publisher identity. This also means you can find out who I am, my real-life identity, and why I built this. Please be nice :)

  3. Major polish across the app to make it nicer to user, improvements to the Diagnostics, Help, and Dashboard

  4. Optional support the dev page if you want to help out. Totally optional. I stand behind my promise of an amazing free app, built by a simmer for simmers.

  5. more to come..

Thank you all for your support. It means the world to me.

Happy to answer questions here, or via the feedback form/[email protected]

FFB-Bridge RC1 is out: https://ffb-bridge.com

Lots! of changes.

  1. Light mode

  2. Major improvements in flight forces. Flap drag, gear drag, and much more added, and more refined

  3. New HID direct mode bypasses DirectInput and talks directly to the FFBv2. Nicer feedback, would appreciate reports. Set it up under Support - Advanced Hardware

  4. App remembers saved profiles, automatically picks them when you start the sim with that plane

  5. Can auto-arm on sim start (opt-in under settings).

Lots more on the change log here: https://ffb-bridge.com/docs/changelog

I hope you all like this one. It was a lot of fun to make.

And, yes, there’s one surprise (at least) yet to come.
