Just asking if anyone can get into Sim-Outhouse?

I'm getting a "Page could not be loaded' error.

Nope!  Started trying about 5am this morning and nothing so far!  I'm betting a server problem or
power outage at the server site!

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Same here, I'm not able to access since yesterday or so...

Robin,

Just a shot in the dark here, like I did for my AVSIMSU bookmark URL because I don't have a sim-outhouse bookmark to try it myself. It still remains a mystery why this worked for me but it did ----- somehow ??

Try deleting and re-typing the exact sim-outhouse URL in your existing bookmark. If this doesn't work then no damage will be done anyway.

Greetings

Hans

Hi, Guys!  Just heard from Dave!

The server is really botched now. He just finished getting the last of the files off of it. It is running and the files are accessible but key parts of the server are broken. Our support company has advised us to just rebuild the server from scratch.

So that is the road we are going down now.

He just finished a last copy of the data on the server. Now I have to contact the host and have them wipe it clean and reload the OS.

From there he can start to rebuild it.

I'm posting what he told me so as to keep everything kosher between the sites!

My VPN flags it all the time, not trusted for some reason.

Many ISPs are falsely claiming SOH is a pirate site because we have a popular file library. We have been fighting this incorrect assumption for a long time but some ISPs are too stupid to listen!

Hi Charlie, we are making slow progress. Admins can now access the site but there are repairs being carried out by the company that provides the OS system on the server. Once that is done we want to run a server re-boot and test it before opening it up to members again. This was a big 'oopsie' but we don't know the full details yet on how or why. Hopefully it will be back at some point today.

That's good to hear Tako_Kichi.  I did bring this up with my VPN service and they shown me how to tic the right boxes to allow access SOH.  👍

Part of the piracy issue is due to the fact that through no fault of ours the old 'SOH.com' domain expired as it was registered to a deceased former founder of SOH. The current Admins tried to keep control of it but the Domain name got parked for a time period as ownership was in dispute. Then as soon as the domain name became available some nefarious entity bought out the name from under us which is why we had to switch from 'SOH.com' to 'SOH.ORG'.

Unfortunately the old .com site is now a password and username harvesting site that grabs members sign-in info and sells it on to scammers etc. and there is nothing we can do to stop them (we have tried). I advise anyone with old bookmarks to the .com site to delete them and renew them at the .ORG site (when it's back up). If you happen to go to the old site and you get a 'log in' window that asks for your credentials then LEAVE without clicking on anything! If you did try to log in then change your username and password on ANY site that uses the same login info!

Some ISPs are refusing to believe that SOH.ORG and SOH.COM are two different entities and not tied together in any way. 🥵

It looks like we have the SOH forum up and running again, for now! We may have to do a couple of short reboots as and when new applications/services get turned on.
