AIG Reinstall P3dv4.5

Featured Replies

After a lengthy reinstall of everything for P3dv4.5 I got to the AI bit and reinstalled Alpha india AIG Manager and started, most or all the liveries and flightplans are not available for download and install due to an issue with the Avsim Library and Flightsim.com changing some rules or something, anyone else going through this process? I have been intouch with Alpha India and did get some advice on a workaround in changing the downloaded(when you can get one) file name but that didn't work out either, any help would be great.

The Avsim Library seems to be up and working? But yes, Flightsim.com is closed at this time.

The AIG forum is generally the best place for advice, when you say it didn't work out, what was the problem?

Well everything that was suggested to do didn't work, like renaming zip files that OCI was looking for, I do get downloads to my downloads folder but OCI can't find them and it seems impossible to point it to the downloads, tried using the manual zip install option but there's nothing happening in the OCI to activate anything, I just never had any of these issues prior to having to do a complete reinstall of everything on a new computer.

Another problem at present is the absence of P3D paints so even if you install particular airlines there's a big chance they'll not show a livery.

Seems most painters have dumped P3D for MSFS. Kai is addressing that problem with a conversion that with be done in the AIG Manager.

I've not seen many if any issues w missing non-P3D compatible paints Ray, I have hundreds of OCI installed airlines and non missing from what I can see. Most FSX paints will work fine. Mind you, I do have a lot of payware AI models from FSPX so perhaps some of the Airbus and Boeing models have FSPX paints these days....

Dean, American Airlines and South West Airlines were two affected.

Do it the other way around. When the OCI is looking for a manual download, it will open up a window where the zip-file should be. In my install it is just a folder on my hard-drive where I save the files. Drag the zip-file from your downloads folder to wherever the OCI is looking for them. If necessary re-name the file to exactly what the OCI is looking for, otherwise it won't find it.

Can confirm, was at KMIA earlier and the AA 737-800w aircraft were blacked out. This is odd as it is hardly an obscure airline, surely P3D textures were in existence prior to this?

The update process is flawed if it deletes existing textures without first checking if a replacement is available. I just don’t get this. How often do airlines change their liveries? BA hasn’t in 20+ years.

It’s something the author needs to address.

Right ... so it's mucking things up on the bulk update operation? .. yeah I haven't refreshed liveries or schedules for a few months, tend to only do that couple of times a year max. Defo will hold off for awhile then.

A bit off topic, but have just spent the last two weekends when weather not too flash outside building up a full retro AI install (manually using AIFP) for the USA and any majors who fly to/from there. Setting is the merger/pre-merger period 2007-2009 sorta years so can rock all the cool old US Airways, Continental, ATA, Midwest, Southwest, Sun Country liveries and swap most of the newer A380, 350 and 787 wide-bodies for 747s, loads of 757/757s and MD8x's, regional Saab340s, EMB120s etc. Was kinda fun collecting all the liveries and converting some older models w MCX. Looks great now, loving it (will fire up another thread for it)

Ok cheers for the advise, I'll try it that way and see how it pan's out.
