Payware Positions

Recommended Posts

Hi,On behalf of InterGlobal Studios I would like to announce that IGS is looking for a highly experienced and talented individual for various positions for a payware product in launch. The current positions that need to be filled are gMAX Aircraft modeller, FDE/effects specialist as well as a programmer. We would like this company to be made up of some of the most experienced and friendly individuals in the FS community. People that not only would like to make some money but also enjoy what they do and would like to share their creations with the world. Included below is an example of what kind of incomes you would be receiving if we release a product that is equal to or higher in quality than LDS which we plan on trying to do.http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/bria...ngsalarys21.jpg[/img]Please remember though that those figures only represent what you could be making if we produce a much sought after product that people wish to add to their collection. If you are interested in this position please let us know, also if you have any other questions or comments feel free to e-mail us at: InterGlobalStudios@hotmail.com or simply leave us a PM and we will get back to you.Thank YouSincerly,Brian BingIGS Vice-President

*muses at the notion that the 4 key positions for success of a product only receive 40% of the earning potential and thinks to himself "I'm lost... where are the other 59.8% of the profits going?" **ponders the notion that it seems logical for a startup that most (if not all) of the key positions would be filled with developers wearing 2 hats until such time as _proper management_ can be hired... not the other way around**blinks, shakes his head rapidly to clear it and shrugging in the "oh well its not important kind of way", says "eh" and wanders off to read the rest of the days posts*

>if we release a>product that is equal to or higher in quality than LDS which>we plan on trying to do.Really a great offer. 8.675% for programming the gauges for a product that's equal or higher in quality than LDS. That makes it really hard to say no. LOL

I am glad the responses so far seem to see through to the "meat" (or lack thereof) of this venture.I have serious issues with your post...among them:~What are you contributing to the venture?~What budget do you have (most curious since you are using our bandwidth to solicit for staff)~Where's your website? Other than an anonymous email address which anyone can obtain, I don't see much showing your commitment to "work" as hard as those you seek.~From what do you base your "projected sales" on?~This post skirts close to the edge forum guidelines against posting notice of commercial ventures (i.e. garnering "name recognition") by the staff of such ventures. To the audience at large, once a year someone arrives here with no prior presence in the forums and places a post like this, seeking our talent to fund their dreams. It's a "get rich quick" scheme--assuming something ever resulted from the hard work, the person getting rich is the "organizer" of such a project. Sites we know--Eaglesoft, Flight1, Feelthere, Dreamfleet, Ariane--most of them are staffed by people who wear most (even all) of the hats. They don't have to hit the forums with these types of post to seek staff when they are in need.-John

They don't have to hit the>forums with these types of post to seek staff when they are in>need.Absolutely bang on the head, John! It would be useless to deny that any of "us payware developers" don't keep an eager "weather eye" on this forum, as well as many, many others for currently unattached new, but perhaps still raw talent.Without exception however, such folks are contacted off-line and privately... ;)That said, the percentage model presented illustrates rather forcefully that someone's perspective is severely skewed. The disparity in distribution of the "worker's share" is clear evidence. There are five major contributors to any project, these are:1) Modeler2) Flight Model (FDE author)3) Gauge Systems Programmer4) Sound Systems Recorder/Developer5) Graphics Artist**NOT the "repainters," but rather the one who spends innumerable hours developing the layered "base paint kit."IMNSHO, all five of these positions are nearly equal in their contributory level, and are worthy of receiving more "near equal shares" of any project's revenue. While I am fully cognizant that there are some "administrative expenses" involved in any commercial endeavor, my thirty plus years of experience as an businessman forces me to admit that such - even when factoring in salaries for the support staff - is no where near 50% of the gross revenue... ;)

To all of those visitors whose first language is not English, it should be clarified that "a man of many hats" is a colloquialism or metaphore (a term of either local origin or of peotic style) that means "person with more than one job/position/title/skill".You may have already guessed that was what was meant, but I thought it best not to assume and just be clear. :)Shad

Glad you caught me on that one--my wife would have a field day with it, since English isn't her first language! :) Glad she doesn't browse these forums, or I'd be eating bread and water tonight...-John

LOL, I know what you mean, my wife (cl) is French and is actually in France with her mom until next Monday. I have noticed a serious decline in my own linguistic abilities when she's not here (and english is my native tongue... go figure ;)).CheersShad*noticing he didn't sign his reply this morning*

The FDE author in this plan is getting the shaft! I think I care to mention the fact here that the FDE author is probably the most important guy in the plan. You can have the most beautiful aircraft in all aspects, but if it flys like a brick... well, you get the idea... nobody would spend their time trying to fly it.

>The FDE author in this plan is getting the shaft! I think I>care to mention the fact here that the FDE author is probably>the most important guy in the plan. Well, I think we're all agreed that the proposal stinks like a three-day-old fish...I consider all five of the tasks of roughly equal importance, as I wrote above. ;)

After well over 10,000 downloads of my freeware stuff, I went payware to see what the market would bear. Given a specialised niche market that I was aiming at, I was ecstatic to have 0.5% of the amount of people who downloaded my freeware stuff pay for my payware stuff. My power supply fried last week and all my "profits" went to replacing it.So after a few thousand hours of learning XML, making graphics, FDEs, asking questions here and many many late nights and endless cups of coffee, my work got me a free power supply. And this clown is telling me that a programmer is worth almost nothing BUT he will pay 40K+?man I must be in the wrong business.Steve

Hi to all :)Thanks for all your nice words. The people that have contacted us about the positions and are tuly interested in them we thank you greatly. After the company is up and running you will get what you deserve and be part of a great company. We are striving to become the best FS-addon company ever and that is not only our dream but we will make it a reality if its the last thing we do. For all of those that seem to like to give negative un-needed comments. I would just like to applaude you on showing the type of people that you are :) Even if you wanted to join the team supposing we paid you more.... we would most likely not hire you as we can already see what type of people you would be. We arent in search of the best here. I reeally wouldnt care if you are the best or you make the best looking plane ever, it still wouldnt be be a good product because it would be made by people that like to run their mouths and not think about what kind of attidute they are showing. We want peiople that will be good at what they do and truly enjoy working for us. People that have fun and are easygoing. Personality makes the biggest difference in life and from what i can see by many of your posts you seem to think you are better than others and you deserve to make so much. Personality for us makes the biggest difference so dont even bother asking about us if you dont want to work for us.For IGS we need people that will actually enjoy working for us and not think about the money aspect, as that we are very kind on. Remeber FS is a hobby that is played for a fun quality aviation time.We feel that the best product will be prouduced not by the best worker, but by the best team; the best team is consisted of dedicated people who are enjoying their time with us, themselves, and the spectacular roster that they are working with. Best Team = Success... we have seen it in NHL, NBA, MLB, and et cetera. For your information I myself do not just sit here doing nothing either, myself and a partner will be doing all the paints on the planes as well. Also half of all the administrative work will be done by me and the president (who will also be webmaster and website designer). All successful applicants to our company will enjoy working for us I can assure you. You will also get your fair share of the profits.Anyhow enough of this. Again a big thank you to all those that apply for the positions. As for the others I could care less what you think as we can all see your very humorous thoughts about us and to tell u the truth we would never hire people like you because we dont hire unpersonable people. Also our deep sorry's to the mistakes, please reconsider the salary prosponents. The one posted was a rough draft and was not meant to be used. Thanks and have a great day :)Brian http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4637/hi...salarys39nf.jpg[/img]
