USAirways callsign Cactus

Featured Replies

Understand since 1 Sep 08 USAirways ICAO USA callsign Cactus. This includes all the old AWE aircraft which I guess are all repainted?scott s..

Why would USAirways take AWE's old callsign? But if you say they did so, I believe you. It just seems odd to me. Are you sure they're using Cactus now, and not USAir?Regarding the livery, I don't know if they are all repainted yet or not. I saw an AWE jet in the last year, it was either at KDFW, KDEN, or KSTL (I can't remember).RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

They are "CACTUS" now. Part of the merger process.

>Why would USAirways take AWE's old callsign?america west purchased a majority share of USair.USairways had better international name recognition so that was 'kept' as the new airline's name.the 'cactus' callsign is a reference to the majority owner - america west.the ID for flights is USA, recognition of the larger 'airline' prior to purchase.--

Even they say "US Airways" on the fuselage. So every one of our mainline aircraft say US Airways on it. It's been like that since last October when the last West bird in the teal/white livery was painted.-Edward J. McCoy [/blockquote]--
