Rich,The problem is bearable, providing that you can texture the OUTSIDE of the winglets :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hello Rich, thank you for understanding my point of view here. I also will experiment a bit with the wingtip painting and see if it is acceptable possible to paint the inside. That thing with the brakes...:Hmmmmm this is the relevant section in the physicfile (for each gear):byte $AF_CTRL_LEFTBRAKE, //maxControlVal float 0.05, //lateralDragCoef float 0.10000, //rollingDragCoef float 0.00800, ....I didn

Ansgar,Does this mean that I won't be able to stop the 747 on a 5000 feet runway ? I seem to remember that the old version took a while to come to a complete stop after landing, and it seemed pretty relaistic to me. I certainly wouldn't want the brakes to feel like they were doing nothing at all ! :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hi Chris,sure you can

Hello Rich, here is the result what I found so far concerning the breakes and frictions:If I double the ControlVal (seems to be the amplifier of all the braking) and reduce the rollingdrag to it

Ansgar,If Rich is interested in a "special" version, then I might be too. Although I don't want to be able to land and stop the 747 at ridiculous locations like Bonny Doon Village, it would be nice to be able to stop it right at the end of a 5000 feet runway IF THE LANDING IS PERFECT. This is with half full fuel tanks (my default setup). One more point (and I don't want you to think that this is a criticism, since I am well aware of the time and effort that you have put into this project). However, I still think that the engine startup sounds of version 1.13 sounded better than those that are included with version 1.20. Maybe it's just me, but the engine sounds at the moment seem to have a lot of "Dash 8" in them :-) Even though these are apparently sounds of a real 747, just how accurately they are translated into .wav files for FU3 is debatable. I have heard lots of 747's at close range at Manchester Airport (the viewing point that I use is DIRECTLY adjacent to the runway 24L threshold), so I have some knowledge regarding the engine sounds at taxi speed, and then FULL BLAST at take-off :-eekI was very impressed with your Beechjet mixture for version 1.13, and if there is any way that a separately installable pack of these engine sounds can be done (or even a special version of your new 747), then I would be interested.Best Wishes,Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hi Ansgar,I thought that might be the case as soon as you showed me how little there is to play with. It's only a minor concern anyway so I'm not that bothered, after all how many people are going to know it's wrong :-)Cheers,Rich.

I just noticed the discussion on braking efficiency here.Rick wrote: I can't hold her on takeoff power at the end of the runway, she moves on the park brake with anything more than 60% power. Admittedly I've never flown a 747 sim but I can't think of another aircraft that won't stay put under full power. Is this peculiar to the 747?As far as I know the short runway take-off procedure for any large jet is to increase the thrust until the aircraft starts to creep. At this point, disengage the brakes, open up full throttle and roll. Provided this is correct the 747 should not stay put under full power. If so it's fine as it is. Ansgar, please check this with your real 747 crew :-)Hans Petter

That was my understanding too - big jets have more power than the brakes can hold.

Hello B747-400 fan

Still waiting...It's not exactly quick in making uploads available is it? ;-)

Hello Rich, the upload is there. Sure it

Hi Ansgar,Found it (an hour or so after my post), installed it, flew it. Liked it :-)As for the wingtips, I'll be fine with what I've got. I can block-colour them quite easily so I'm not that worried. I'll upload my Air Canada livery so you can see what it looks like in block colour.Cheers,Rich.http://www.wheresthefish.co.uk/fu3/fu3aircan747.jpg

Ansgar and Rich, just sensational. Qantas and Ansett are both well-represented in the FU3 fleet! Go Australia!RobD.:-rotor
