November 22, 200223 yr Author As I already said it is getting better. But it still happens that it hides suddenly. But maybe you can get Peter to add a shortcut option. So one can easily show/hide the window. Using the main menu is not that handy.CheersThomas
November 22, 200223 yr Thomas,You absolutely DON'T have to use the menu to get around this. Do you use a joystick or a yoke ? If a joystick then presumably you have the coolie hat to view left & right ? A quick tap with the thumb (If you're machine is not the fastest you don't even have to wait for it to draw the whole window. As long as the main window loses focus then regains) and the display returns. As long as you don't position it too close to panel edges and then save its position you hardly notice it after a few flights. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
November 22, 200223 yr I am aware of how sensitive AdvDisp is to where it's docked and have set it carefully on all my panels. But, whilst it doesn't dissapear completely, it does still flicker and hide for a couple of seconds. Which is why I described it as "flawed", as in the dictionary sense ie:Not Perfect
November 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member what panel does it happen to? where are you putting it. maybe one of the beta testers will have that panel, and can duplicate the problem. if we can duplicate the problem we can fix it. we went through about 2 weeks of advdisp.dll fixes about 3 months ago, and all beta testers were successful at getting advdisp.dll to work on their panels. November 22, 200223 yr Spotted on the default 737, 777 & Scotts 747 panel. Placed mid left for the 737,777 & top left for Scotts panel. Sorry can't be more acurate just now, my son has my simming pc in his room practising for a "Counter Strike" tournament tomorrow :-roll
November 22, 200223 yr Dave,The only time I see the 'flicker' is when advdisp is undocked. Dock it, flicker gone. I've tried it on virtually ALL the payware products but I have to admit, not the def 737 or 777 panel. I have tried it on the (chronically bad) def 747 panel as part of long range flight tests for my VA, and didn't notice anything other than normal behaviour.I'll give the def 737 panel a whirl tomorrow. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
November 22, 200223 yr Author Hi,I've tested it right now on my actual system at home and the funny thing is that it works with most of the payware panels (PSS Airbus, DF734, etc.). But AdvDisplay has some probs with the default 737 panel!? Last question I have currently: Where should I place the docked window for the PSS Panel? Actually there is no place on the PSS panel so the window can be displayed all the time. Maybe Peter could work out a fix, so the auto show/hide works?!Thomas
November 23, 200223 yr The few times I've had a problem like this, I found the panel.cfg to be "read only". Changing it to attributes fixed it for me.Best,Rob
November 23, 200223 yr Thomas,I have no probs with adv display on the PSS airbus as located below -Good point from Rob. Some installers will set the panel.cfg as read only. No amount of moving/saving will help you there. Just remove its attribute from windows explorer. The DF 737 I know for a fact sets itself as read only by default.http://www.dmcity.com/uploads/pss_advdisp.jpg - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
November 23, 200223 yr Thomas,Granted, not a lot of space on the MS default 737 panel but placing it as below suffices. After all; how many times do you need to look at the aileron & rudder trim .... A short hop from EGTC - EIDW. It's all I could bear :-hahhttp://www.dmcity.com/uploads/737_disp.jpg - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
