I'm thinking about getting rc4. I was wondering how it was about sending you to the gate after landing. I know the atc in fs9 sends you to the first gate that fits your plane, but does rc4 send you to the gates for your airline, ie aa will be sent to an aa gate, ua will be sent to an ua gate. I know the airline codes in the aircraft.cfg files are for ai only for ms atc. Does rc4 use them to assign gates. I use AFCAD 2 and all of the major airports I fly into all have afcads with airline gate assignments.

And will it only show empty gates? Wouldn't want to go to a gate already occupied.

John,You can't select the vacant gates at the destination airport. You have to type a gate number in to the aprpriate field in the Controller page.After landing and contacting GND you will be cleared to taxi to that gate. Whether it's actually free is another matter.We did debate amongst the team during development whether RC could detect vacant gates but it wasn't possible.Cheers,

You could use the Lee Swordy AFCAD program to modify the AFCAD for the destination airport. All you would have to do is remove the taxi link to the gate of your choice and nothing will be able to taxi to it. I'm not sure if unlinked gates have an aircraft dropped on them at the start but as a further insurance policy you could make the radius so ridiculously small that nothing but you would be welcome.Andy b

or just remove the gate from the afcad so it is reserved for you. That way no AI aircraft in either state will be there.I just note the ID of the gate I "reserved" on the airport diagram I printed so I know how to get there and if in a parallel runway situation where traffic allows I'll request the closer parallel and see if I get it from RC.
