Ah yes, that was it, works now. Great feature !Thanks Doug and jd

Some more questions :1. AI planes. Some get called as alpha, beta, .., november, sierra and then a number. Does that mean their callsign got not recognized ?2. AI again : They report 5 or 7 miles final and get the wind from tower. Then they just land without any 'cleared to land'. Is that intended ?3. On the same route I got once a new squawk code enroute, once even two new squawk codes and once none. What's the reason for that ?Mike

1) if i don't have a wav for a specific airline, i call them by the first letter of their name. do you know what their airline name was? there are some misspellings, which we can fix in the c4.csv file2) ai again. they do some funny things. i use a below this altitude to trigger the cleared for land message to the ai. if you don't hear the cleared to land, they are skimming across the ground 5 to 7 miles out, and thus never really descend through that magical altitude. in an earlier iteration of this chatter logic, i had planes being cleared to land 20 miles out. damned if i do, damned if i don't3) transponder changes happen. it's a random event.jd

jd>1) if i don't have a wav for a specific airline, i call them>by the first letter of their name. do you know what their>airline name was? there are some misspellings, which we can>fix in the c4.csv fileHmmm, I occasionally hear that on the ground and enroute, but with a bunch of AI planes active it's next to impossible to find out who is not recognized. I don't have much ideas about that AI stuff (started with it when I got RC4 :-) ). Is there any tool available, where I can get a quick overview which AI planes are active in the vicinity ?>2) if you don't hear the cleared to land, they are skimming across>the ground 5 to 7 miles out, and thus never really descend>through that magical altitude. Ouch :D. Seems common, I was standing in the queue for 15 minutes and could watch around half a dozen coming in (no one got cleared to land). Their landing looked good though. Oh well, not a big deal anyway. Thanks for the infos !Mike

Hi Mike,1. You could use trafficlook which is a little utility which comes with fsuipc. It will display the data RC is using including the airline names.2. I think I saw that as well sitting at Phoenix. I'll check. Hopefully we can tweak it some more. All the best,John

As Burgess said below, TrafficLook is an excellent utility to check out what is around you. You'll see the callsign in the first column - this is what RC looks for. Sometimes though, the GA AI will be using their registration as it's callsign. This is what RC sees, and therefore will voice the registration. Some of my GA AI in Australia are listed as VH-ABC - in this case I would hear Victor Hotel Alpha Bravo Charlie, which maybe similar to what you're hearing. When you do hear it, does the sequence of the letters make any sense? Do they seem random, or do you hear Sierra Papa Echo Echo Delta Bravo etc (=SPEEDBIRD). If this is case, please let us know. If they seem random, they are probably just the GA AI being called by it's registration.Subs

or the other night i was flying in japan, thanks to john burgess, and i kept hearing alpha this and alpha that. turns out there were a bunch of ai call airsystem. no airsystem entry, no wav, so i played alpha.jd

Subs and John,it's something like Alpha+number, Sierra+number, November+number and so on.Thanks for the trafficlook info, I'll try to identify them and let you know.Mike

here's list of those I could identify when lurking around at some German Airports (Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf) Callsign and airline name, if different from the Callsign :AIR VIACIRRUS AIR DONAVIA - Aeroflot DonHAMBURG JET - Hamburg InternationalNORDIC - Nordic AirlinkNORTHRIDER - Nordic LeisureNORWEGIANPULKOVO - Pulkovo AirlinesRUSSIA - Russian GovernmentSIBERIA AIRLINES SPADA - Itali AirlinesAnd some military planes with Air Force, but the country name in front of that - so e.g. BELGIAN AIR FORCE or GERMAN AIR FORCE.There are four Russian Airlines among them that often fly into Western Europe. Regarding the "cleared to land" for AI I had a look with traffictool to the planes that came in for landing. Their descent "gradient" looked continuous. It was around 300-350 ft/NM. So e.g. a plane at 7 NM from the runway was at 2200-2300 ft/AGL, at 5NM at 1500-1600 ft AGL, at 3NM at 900-1000 ft and so on. Not sure if that helps you to adjust it. Mike

So are you saying these airlines get called:AIR VIA gets called Alpha + numberCIRRUS AIR gets called Charlie + numberDONAVIA gets called Delta + number...etc?Some of these may have the airline name recorded but I'll have to go home and check that later tonight. I'll tell you which ones should have been voiced by RC.Subs

Subs, yes, exactly.I have mentioned only those that appeared at least two times and I'd consider common. There were more, but appeared only once and are not really common. (E.g. two Airbus : WORLDGATE = Volkswagen Air Service or TWIN STAR = Daimler Chrysler Aerospace). Mike

I checked this out, and unfortunatly a wav recording hasn't been made for those airlines. We made a list of over 4000 airlines to begin with at first, and short listed them based on popularity and size to around 720. These 720 then got their name recorded so that they will be voiced correctly. Please note we tried our best at accuratly short listing, even though we may have missed some biggies and included some obscure small airlines by accident. It's hard to know how big or small or popular an airline is when you're on the other side of the world and have never heard of them before :()If you do feel a major airline in your area has been left out, send a email to Doug (or write them here and I'll pass it on), and we'll try to include it next time around.Subs

Subs,>> If you do feel a major airline in your area has been left out, send a email to Doug (or write them here and I'll pass it on), and we'll try to include it next time around.Uh, OK. That small list was just meant as request to be considered for the next round. I'm aware there's many in already, so it was not intended as complaint ;-)Mike
