December 24, 200520 yr Great product.Very enjoyable.Well worth the money. One question which I've not seen in the forum-forgive me if it's been raised but I haven't found it if it has.I have been "scolded" a number of times for straying off route with an IFR Flight Plan!I've treble checked and all seems to be in order both in the FS9 flight plan, the map view and the FMC on the PMDG 737.The resume at the end of the flight tells me they hope I drive better than I fly(nice touch!)Any ideas?

I think this might be the issue that has popped up with FSUIPC 3.51. and wind correction. Download and install the latest version which is FSUIPC 3.52 and see what happens......http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
December 24, 200520 yr Yes, the latest FSUIPC corrects the cruise winds issue. Also be sure you are flying within 2nm of each filed waypoint. Even though it's on by default, there is a 'ChkPt Ding' option on RC's General screen. Having it ticked makes RC play a ding everytime RC accepts you passed the waypoint within the required (2nm) distance.Listening out for those dings, as well as the latest FSUPIC (http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html) should help your driving...errr...flying skills ;o)If you still have problems, let us know.Subs
December 24, 200520 yr Author Thanks fellas and a Happy Christmas to you all.I have the dings on and the route flying is spot on(natch!)so I will get the latest FSUIPC and report back.
December 26, 200520 yr Author Did that and it seems to have fixed it.Thanks to you (and Peter Dowson)
January 1, 200620 yr Author Just experienced this again (KLAX-KSFO)but the winds at FL310 in SOCAL were 120k!!Would this be a reason?
January 1, 200620 yr >Just experienced this again (KLAX-KSFO)but the winds at FL310>in SOCAL were 120k!!>>Would this be a reason? There does appear to be a relationship between high x-winds at altitude and receiving the "scolding". Until we sort it out you can increase your heading deviation tolerance to 15 degrees.-michael
January 2, 200620 yr Author Hi folksBit late here in UK but yes I have the very latest FSUIPC.Thanks for the tip about increasing the latitude factor.I'll try it soon.I'm not worried about it-certainly doesn't spoil things- but merely curious.I've got used to scoldings over the years, especially when I had an SPL!
January 2, 200620 yr I got that scolding today too.........3 times to be exact........................Turn's out though,It was my lousy piloting skills that got me in trouble....... January 2, 200620 yr On another thread, but I see there is a another new version of FSUIPC out today, 3.53.
January 2, 200620 yr Are you sure this isn't the problem I have experienced using FMC's. The PMDG/FMC flightplan is the same as the FS2004 plan used by RC - but as you start the approach the controller directs you to a course not in the FMC plan, if you continue to fly with the FMC you will get a ticking off.I have been deviating from my FMC plan as requested until in touch with "Approach" and have then returned to the FMC control after selecting the IAP option. I'm not a real pilot but it does seem strange that you have a descent plan & STAR etc built into the FMC but you cannot routinely fly it! Presumably ATC would inform you of the STAR in use at some stage during the flight.Roger
January 2, 200620 yr Commercial Member when you are handed over to approach, the star is over. you are theirs.like bob said, id you want to continue with a specific approach in approach airspace, ask for an iap approach, and then approach will grant it. but there will be no more vectors from approach. you've essentially said, i know how to get from here to there.jd JD Read my blog
