I can't quite make out what you took a picture of, it is so small. Are you saying that the window just doesn't have anything in it after you resize it to about 1" by 1" , or is it filling the entire FS9 display and you can't reduce it in size?

I've attached a larger image. When I open the ADV window (even before I resize/move it), all other views beneath it dissappear as you can see on the attachment. The whole of the image is a screenshot.Ben Briscoe

is that whole black area advdisp? if so, then you can undock, resize to be smaller, and then dock again.if the little grey box is advdisp, then it shouldn't block the rest of the panel. mine doesn't.what happens if it is undocked? can you move it around the screen?what if you dock it somewhere else, same affect?does this happen on all planes, or just one?do you have the latest video drivers for your card?jd

No the little grey box is the ADVdisp. It still happens whether it's docked, undocked and whatever aircraft it is.I'm fully up tod ate on my Nvidia 7800 drivers.Ben

i can't think of any reason it would do that.does it do it to every plane/panel?anyone else see this behavior and have a solution?jd

How do I check the driver details?I updated them about 2 weeks ago if that gives you an idea.Ben

Some Nvidia Drivers have caused problems with the 6800-7800 cards. You should be able to right click on your desktop and see Nvidia Display as a checkbox. Go to the top menu and see what the G-Force version is. Probably 81.XX The latest is 81.98, so you might want to install that one. You should also read up on using Driver Cleaner Pro when changing drivers to make sure you get all files from the old driver removed. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.htmlhttp://www.drivercleaner.net/ http://www.3dchipset.com/I am not saying that this is your problem, but if you can't figure out anything else, I would give this a shot. You can always reinstall the present driver you have..

This happened to me today for the first time. No text appears in the AdvDisplay panel, yet, when I hit the number 1 key I hear the pilot (me) requesting clnc. I flew from KSAN to KSFO with this "disability". I tried to dock/undock; close/restart advdisp; and change the text color w/o success. Text would "flash" on the advdisp panel but would not remain on. So I took off for KSFO in the rain. At about FL120 the text suddenly appeared and stayed on even when changing views (2D; 3D; outside view; etc.). However, late in the flight the text disappeared again (while changing views) and never returned during the rest of the flight. I had real weather loaded and was flying my PMDG 737-900. I think this is an anomaly in that it rarely happens and most likely a problem with the installation of my ATI 5.13 video card drivers. I just wanted to contribute as it did happen to me so now we have at least two simmers who have had this problem. I doubt I can ever duplicate this in the future but will try.My system is an Intel P4 3.6 GHz system with 2 gigs of DDR2 RAM and a Radeon X800XT PCI Express video card.Ciao,Jim

i've been running 5.13 for about week, never seen this happen. but i don't switch views that often.jd

I've got 81.98 installed, and run driver cleaner, but I'm still getting what you can see in the attachment.I don't understand why you have to use this sort of interface instead of designing one similar to the existing MSFS ATC window. All I want is for the product I've shelved money out for to work!Ben http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137644.jpg

Hi Ben,We want things to work for you too!I'm using the 8198 drivers on a 6600 card and not seeing what you are. I have, in the past, found that changing the antialiasing settings can affect the way advdisplay behaves. You might give that a try.All the best,John

Hi Ben,I get the same display (black screen) when I accidently hit a wrong key, like the "W" key in VC view and then return to the view you have. If it's like that when you first start up you may have saved it somehow and you need to get back to the default view. Have you tried backing up or renaming your fs9.cfg, restarting the sim, and letting the fs9.cfg rebuild itself? This Adventure Window was not invented by the RC4 team but by the FSUIPC team (another company) so I would not be so harsh with the RC4 team. The advdsp module is in your module folder and there should also be an advdsp.pdf that you can read to learn more about the module and how it works. I think I read in some other forum that the FS9 ATC Window cannot be programmed by third parties for use as you suggested. If you have the 5.13 ATI video card drivers installed, you might try going back to the 5.11 or 5.12 drivers and see if that fixes your problem. I had an exceptionally difficult time with the 5.13 drivers (and previous driver installation) even though I completely uninstalled the old drivers using the ATI uninstall program, then using Driver Cleaner Pro before installing the new ones. I got the blue death screen once soon after upgrading to the 5.13 drivers which indicated they were improperly installed. I manually reinstalled and have had less problems since or at least not the blue screen CTD. FS9 is video card intensive and, as such, requires a well-tuned system with drivers not corrupted or installed improperly. I personally think ATI does not update the system registry properly when installing new drivers. Manually reinstalling the drivers may fix that problem.Hope this helps and good luck with getting it to work.Jim

If you are using an nVidia graphics card, I recommend using driver 71.89 WHQL. This is an "older" driver but does not have the display problems connected with the "newer" drivers. The driver is on the nVidia website under the driver archives. I have tried them all on my system and I think this is the best one to eliminate display problems in FS9.Check out Pete Dowson's forum to see some discussion of this, especially the "blackening" of the screen.
