March 26, 200719 yr Commercial Member new one to me.do you ack the clearance upon request statement? JD Read my blog
March 26, 200719 yr I don't know if the answer is in the forum, and I did a search but came up zip.I'm having problems getting started with a flight. I create a flight using FSBuild and export to FS9 and LDS767 as well. I then start FS9, ActiveSky, the adv window and finally RC.I then pick the flight plan and start RC. Everything seems to work. But I can't get past the Clearance Delivery 90% of the time. I usually get "Clearance available upon request." The thing just sits there and nothing happen. I once let it run for 30 minutes and no clearance. When I do, and get ground instructions to a runway, I get "Taxi to runway XXX and hold short." But no mention of contacting tower, nor does ground ever hand me off to tower. Like above, I sit for a long time and never get a handoff. Once I taxied into position and just took off and ATC did not even blink. What am I doing wrong here?ThanksJohn Bradley
March 27, 200719 yr I'm not sure what you mean. After I get the "Clearance available upon request" I acknowledge it, but don't hear back from. Its like a rookie Vatsim controller that just forgets you are online. When I do get the clearance, I acknowledge and get the instructions to contact ground. I do that and get instructions to taxi to rwy XXX and hold. Again, no mention of contacting tower, nor does the screen change to contact the tower. Also, I can't seem to get the adv window to dock. When I open it up from the Modules folder, I get the click and drag and dock. When I right-click, I don't get any options to dock it. I'm wondering if that is the culprit. Thanks again
March 27, 200719 yr Author Commercial Member why don't you follow the directions at the top of the forum on how to generate a .logmake sure you click debug before loading the .plnduplicate the problem, and send me the .logdelete the advdisplay.dll from the modules directory, let fsupc do the display for youjd JD Read my blog
March 27, 200719 yr When you get the ground taxi clearance to hold short, be sure you just ack it. As I recall in version 4 you really have to be close to the runway before you get the Contact Tower menu. When you do contact tower, it means you are ready to without delay. Some things to watch out for:Make sure you are taxiing to the correct runway (don't laugh, I've been there :) ). Use the RC position status line as a guide.Make sure you are using the correct FSUIPC (see upgrade pinned thread).Does this happen at multiple airports?
March 27, 200719 yr This seems to have done the trick. I updated FSUPIC and did a short test. I'll complete a flight later today when I get home. Thanks Guys!
March 28, 200719 yr I had an older version of FSUIPC that dated back.....whenever. That is usually one of those things that I don't replace/upgrade unless an add-on acts up. Once I downloaded the latest version for FS9, I was able to see everything as far as ATC commands. One last thing: How can I get rid of the default FS ATC window while using RC? I have Ultimate Traffic also and dialed back the AI traffic to 85%.Thanks again!
March 28, 200719 yr Author Commercial Member don't use fs atc, and it shouldn't appear. i've never seen the fs atc window, so i don't knowisn't there a checkbox somewhere that says start fs atc window open when you start fs?jd JD Read my blog
March 28, 200719 yr Moderator Hi,<>With respect, that is not good practice. Pete Dowson releases new versions of FSUIPC for good reason - probably to correct bugs. You should always install the latest version. In any case Pete will not support earlier versions.Bookmark his forum and check every so often if new versions are available. It can save headaches as you have discovered. http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?...5f30174b94c314dCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). March 28, 200719 yr I think if you do not file/load a plan within FS9 itself, just create the .pln file, you will not get the FS ATC window. You can also uncheck Automatically Open ATC window in FS Settings/General/ATC if for your aircraft you have to load your plan into FS.
March 29, 200719 yr Make sure you are taxiing to the correct runway (don't laugh, I've been there ). 'Use the RC position status line as a guide'.HiCould you please tell me how to do the above to get to the right runway-I use RC and am always having problems getting to the runway-the compassheading are very difficult to follow.Mnay thanks Qas
March 29, 200719 yr Here are some choices:1. Try to get a chart of the airports (destination and arrival). For the US and FAA jurisdiction they are available at no charge as separate plates or full diagrams and departure and approach collections. I get mine from www.flightaware.com under resources. Some charts are available over the Internet from airport sites. 2. Failing the ability to find a chart for an airport download the free utility AFCAD2.21 under the utilities section of the libraries. You can print a chart of gate locations, taxiways, and runways from that. Taxiways can be identified to assist and correlated with scenery taxi signs. In both cases above mark your parking position and plan a taxi route.3. Go to overhead view in FS after familiarizing yourself with the airport. Use this view as needed. It takes practice to taxi this way but it can be done. There are also some payware packages that in a separate locked to your position window will show your position and that of AI on a diagram. I think that is a feature of FS Flightkeeper. One of our beta testers uses that. The RC status line status line should show a general bearing from your present position to the start of the runway but not necessarily the threshold. Likewise the distance to go should diminish as you taxi toward it.Maybe others can offer advice.
