August 21, 200718 yr Hey folks,Done quite a few flights with RC now and think it is a terrificprogram and have got into the swing of the RC atc world, but I do have a problem with my UT AI and wondered if anyone could assist, RC communicates with the AI on ground, position hold etc and in the air ie warnings of crossing traffic given for me and the AI, no problem there but the traffic does not hold position on the ground for me and just now on app to Denver two AI shot past me on the app ( one right behind the other ) one then disappeared and the other landing blocking the runway, no communication was given at that time to the offending AI but I was cleared to land.I am using AISmooth and wonder if I have something not setup right in AISmooth or maybe a AFCAD problem perhaps, there are so many things to read up on when simming I kinda get a bit lost in it all sometimes..! :-shyoh and I just luv the chatter brings a great atmosphere the my LD763 flightdeck..! :-kewlthanks for any help,Steve (UK)
August 22, 200718 yr Commercial Member i move conflicting ai out of the way when you are on arrival tower, so they don't interfere with your landing. i don't say anything to them, because our tests showed that i would spend more time telling them to go around, and then their acknowledgements, and would interfere with the dialog between you and tower. there isn't a lot of time or distance to waste on ai chatter at that point.jd JD Read my blog
August 22, 200718 yr I recommend you turn off respond to user aircraft off in AI Smooth setup and let RC handle separation from you. Let AI Smooth just separate the AI traffic from each other so only RC is ordering the AI around in your immediate vicinity.
August 22, 200718 yr Author Thankyou JD & Ron,I have checked that ' User plane response ' is unchecked in AI smooth, I take it that is the same...? ( AI Smooth 1.11 ) maybe it was just a slight hiccup with the AI, I'm sure I read somewhere that this can happen with MSFS.cheers,
August 22, 200718 yr You should get aismooth version 1.2. Also, try these settings, since I changed them to these, I have never had an incursion of AI aircraft on approach, either with or without RC! http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/177107.jpg Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
August 22, 200718 yr I use a denser separation to simulate large airports. In addition parallel or multiple active runway operation must be considered. I am thinking of centerline separation of 1.5 nm.In 4.3 RC should be controlling AI in front and in back of you on approach. make sure Interact with AI is enabled in RC. That is why I had respond to user aircraft off. Be sure you have the latest FSUIPC installed.I did increase separation time to 90 seconds to let the AI queued for take-off on the intitial AI rush on loading a flight depart at a reasonable interval without the huge backup. This has to do with the long separation of aircraft at hold-short from landing AI imposed by the FS9 AI engine -- much too long. In RC5 user aircraft at hold short separation from landing AI will be tightened up and user aircraft type will be taken into consideration, that is the time it takes for a user aircraft to roll into position and start the take-off run. Don't wait for RC5, though, as it is still a year away. A lot more complexity is being programmed into it.I stayed with a landing release of 5 ft AGL. I think that means the start of touchdown or roll out. At most I would set it 1,000 AGL. I think AIS uses this value as a threshold to quit monitoring the activity of an AI on final to determine when to release AI on hold.
August 22, 200718 yr Maybe it's a moot point with RC (I'm relatively new to RC myself) but with default ATC, I find a separation of 5nm minimum for AI to clear in front, I use 6 to be safe. Even then though I was getting some incursions, what fixed it for me though was changing the heading range to intercept to 180 degrees. Now I never see an incursion and AI aircraft comes in at regular intervals without go around's, even at busy airports!!In regards to landing release agl, I didn't know that, maybe I'll try that!! August 24, 200718 yr Author Hi Tom & Ron,Thanks for the info, just rebuiding my pc with a new HD so willtry settings when my sim is up and running again.Seems version 1.2 needs 4xx FSUIPC (FSX only) I have 3.75 for my FS9.cheers,
