  1. Dirk.I use the MacBook Pro 15" to do the graphic development for the NGX. I added 4 Gigs of ram to it and replaced the HD with a 750GB 7200rpm drive. (You could order one with the 7200rpm HD from Apple). Runs the NGX smoothly at KSFO and EGKK add-on airports with Ultimate Traffic set at 90%. Running 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium.Pete Mac PaintPMDG Graphic Designer
  2. Carl,There has been a lot of 'opinions' on the merit's of running FSX on an iMac, here's mine. I say get the iMac, install 64 bit Windows 7 and install FSX. No need to over clock as the i7 iMac will run FSX just fine. As for installing driver updates, I was able to update the graphic driver on my Mac Book last week, I just downloaded the individual drivers without using ATI's installer wrapper. For hard core PC gamers the Mac line is certainly not a consideration but for the casual Mac gamer who is curious about PC gaming i would certainly not hesitate in trying PC games using boot camp. I've had no problems using my Mac Book Pro to run Windows software, Photoshop CS5, FSX, Thunderbird, Filezilla, Open Office, and with Apple's latest iMac hardware you won't have any problems either.Pete Mac PaintPMDG Graphics Designer
  3. While away from my desktop rig I regularly use my Early 2011 i7 Mac Book Pro to develop the liveries for our NGX. The NGX runs just fine using 64bit Windows 7 via Boot Camp. The latest iMac is supposed to run 10% faster than my Mac Book Pro so I'd say, if you're going to buy the iMac anyway, running FSX should not be a problem. BTW, I'm also running UT2 and getting nice frame rates with I think about 80%+ traffic, and no, I'm not at liberty to discuss what that frame rate is that I'm getting ;-)Pete Mac PaintPMDG Graphic Designer

  15. Ryan helped me O/C my i7 930 in the computer that I built recently and being a Mac guy at heart had very little knowledge about O/C. I've been bitten by the 'bug' and now I've got "Galatica" running at 4.20GHz, passing Prime95 with a high temp of 78C on liquid cooling. A few months ago this would have meant nothing to me, thanks Ryan! No stutters in FSX with all sliders maxed, AI at about 80%, and in my current complex aircraft, textures load without pause and frame rates are not an an issue, "Smoof as Butta!"Pete 'Mac Paint'PMDG Graphic Designer
