  1. Gord, thanks for the heads-up. I'm downloading the three files right now. One reason I would like to start flying around St John's is because of a bush flying book that I read by Lee Wulff, who described wonderfully his bush trips around NewFoundland. Is there a good mesh and landclass for NF?
  2. No idea, Henri. In addition to the trees, I remember I saw in the Library several new FLED objects by R_Driscoll (sorry if the name is spelled wrong). But as yet, I don't know if any scenery utilizes those.
  3. You must be limited by hard drive space, Henri! I would never remove any one of the two sims from my machine; I'll remove WinXP itself before I remove either one :-lol :-lol.I'll talk scenery here:1.BFU sceneries, Chris's, Bogdan's and Bjorn's excellent packages; these are on AVSIM.2.Frank Betts has lots and lots of scenery packages on his site. It is really a gold mine for FU3 scenery addons. Thankfully, he still keeps them, even though he appears to be fully FS these days. His site:http://flightsimsetc.dhs.org/content.php?m=v&t=sceneriesOthers please step in.
  4. Hi, Paul. I'm getting the same thing with 40.72 WHQL. Got it also with 40.71. But when I had 30.82, there was no such message. I guess I should have installed the later drivers over the 30.82, instead of uninstalling completely that one. Maybe I'll do that to get rid of the message.By the way, the readme file that comes with the driver download for WinXP doesn't say to uninstall anything before putting in the new driver. Naji
  5. Thanks for the feedback, Ansgar. The scenery as seen in the shots is outstanding. Many thanks to Andre and Cristian for all their efforts.
  6. Appreciate the quick fix, Matt :)While you're here, I've noticed that the main release of Thunder Bay is under Scenery Design.Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the heads-up, WorkingStiff :-wave
  8. Hi, Hablot. I suggest that you temporarily set all values under Display Options in FS2002 to their Default values except the resolution. Hit OK, fly a bit and see if the problem is reduced. You can set them back to the values you want, preferably one by one to see the impact. On my machine, I do this often, as it seems to help make the visuals clearer. Don't ask me why :)
  9. Hi, Tom. Just now I was enjoying a flight from Seatac to Paines, in a weather that I love: an endless, ugly overcast with rain and some wind. Though I have a P4 2.4Ghz, 512MB, GF4 Ti4600, I am getting near downtown Seattle around 16 fps, with 4xS AA and 8x aniso. Plus I'm getting that ugly line across the panel. In the night, lights are not solid clear, but shimmer a bit at a certain distance from the plane. If you have FS2002 set up, could you please let me know how the textures behave with the ATI? Any blurries?Enjoy your setup :)
  10. Hi, Paul. Grass or not, a flatten switch should work anywhere. Have a read in this thread from the Bush Flying Unlimited old forum. It gives an example on how to make a flatten switch.http://www.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID91/145.html#7 All the best.
  11. Hi, Jeff. I use Norton SystemWorks 2002 for defragging. It has never caused me this problem on my setup. On the contrary, it always tends to improve things for FS2002 and FU3. I've made it a habit to run it about once a week. All the best.
  12. For this resolution to show in FS Display Options, the desktop needs to be on such resolution, then it will show in the listing. If you don't want to change your desktop resolution, you can edit fs2002.cfg directly.Hope this helps. All the best.
  13. Have a read in this thread, Tim:http://www.guru3d.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=30392All the best.
  14. Welcome back to FU3, Kai :)To install FU2 San Fran scenery, it has to be done while installing FU3.Regarding aircraft and scenery addons, you're at the right place! Go to AVSIM library, FU3 section, and search to your heart's content. All the best.
  15. Another Wow from me! CONGRATS Heather :). Not only awarded a Gold, but ahead of Bear's list time and all by itself. Many thanks for your efforts, you and the team who worked on it.
  16. It is in Bear's Cave, a list that is assembled by Bear every month:http://www.avsim.com/pages/0802/bear_8-4-02/bearracing.htmCongrats again, Hennie :). Mind you, a Gold Award doesn't come easy, so you can puff up your chest :)
  17. >do i not have a right to agree or disagree? Hi, semd74. Of course you have the right to agree or disagree, but you have no right doing it in the rude way that you have done it, especially when you are addressing it to a guy here who is as highly regarded as there can be in our community. First, you said "..he ranted and raved about how excellent the aircraft was..", and secondly you said "..bear, you need to do a better job of reviewing..". Both these statements are way off courteous and positive criticism of the picks that Bear does us the favor of assembling. And yes, to me it very well seems to be a favor that he is doing for us simmers, and I among many here can't wait for the time of month for it to appear.
  18. You and your colleagues, Rivera, Light and Aaron, got Bear's Gold Award for the FS2002 Thunderbird II Ultralight :). Well done guys! All the best.
  19. >transport, aerial photography, or MedEvac operations, here >is a pic of one of our Cougar Mountain Helicopter Bell >205A's working a fire at Naji's 'Wild Yukon' (great scenery >Naji!!!). We have also recently worked fires at Naji's >latest scenery, 'AVSIM Base.' >Thanks for the kind feedback, Rex. It is flattering to me to see you guys at Cougar Mountain have volunteered to extinguish those fires :-).The credit for the fires really goes to Nanni, a highly talented Italian who designs mostly for CFS2. Nanni made the stunning forest fire effects, and I just made the api macro that calls it.And if I remember correctly, I placed the forest fires in AVSIM Base after your request, Rex.All the best.
  20. :-lol :-lol Francois is right, Heather; I suspect that it is structured this way so poor employees wouldn't know where to go for their salary :-smile12
  21. >Is there a quick and easy way to render the terrain for this area >ala Terrascene? Hi. Sorry, can't help with terrain. I only make scenery. But you might want to post your query in a new thread as there are in this forum folks knowledgeable about this.If you are interested in bush sceneries, there are some in the Yukon Territory. Some of these are real, others are imaginary like my Wild Yukon Logging Camp. To see a complete list of what there is for the Yukon, you can download Heather's guide from the library and search for Yukon in the document. If you need more pointers, let me know.Cheers.

    My new home

Good to have you onboard, Mike. You will love the neighborhood :)All the best.
  23. Hi, Steve.Like Jamie here, I've been using Airport for the design of my sceneries. For the 3D models, like structures and buildings and others, I'm now using gmax. For textures, I have Paintshop Pro7.However, when you get comfortable with gmax, you can make a whole scenery with it, without Airport even. But gmax is kind of difficult and has a tough learning curve. The sooner you start with it, the better :)All the best.
  24. Re transparent textures for windows or such, I haven't tried it yet, but it can be done with the opacity option in gmax material editor. Open gmax help system, and search for the words realistic textures or colors, and you will find good hints on how to make transparent glazing or curtain walls, like what basic colors to start from and what degree of opacity. I may have read this in a book, but I'm kind of sure something is mentioned in gmax reference as well. Cheers.
  25. Hi, Bob. That is exactly the reason I decided to put back the default FS2002 textures. I've tried both excellent products, Lennart's and FSScene's Europe, but the misalignment of the autogen objects on them was a disappointment, so I re-installed the defaults which, with Autogenious, are proving to be the best so far for me. Cheers.
