  1. "If this were just about any other area of software you'd have to pay for your "right" to get updates through any means at all."I disagree, see my example above.****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  2. >"Why not simply write to (email) the customers and tell them>about new support files they should download?">>What payware does this?I know DF/PMDG does`nt.Why do you think>Arrianne should be any different?>A Little place up in Redmond Washington Called Microsoft does. :DThey sell a little Payware Product called windows XP, and they have this neat little FREE Service called Automatic Updates that a consumer can turn on, and not only will they notify you of their PATCH....err....UPDATE.....errr... Service Upgrade...Errrr....Whatever is the PC word these days, they will also install it for you as well, at NO CHARGE to you. Imagine that, not charging for a patch, what a novel Idea, huh?And Guess what? This little company in Redmond does it all for FREE once you purchase their PAYWARE Operating System. So I ask you, why Shouldn't all developers do what this little Redmond, Wa. Company does?Seems fair to me, and also shoots down your analogy as well, IMHO. :-)Happy New Year,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  3. Watching the news today, the LSM (lame stream media), still is running with the Military Green Light lasers since retail mainly sells Red ones not green.Come on folks, these are kids with Christmas Presents trying out their new toys, IMHO.If you have ever attended an Astronomy Outing, all I see is Green Lasers up in the sky.And none of them are Military, all retail bought through telescope stores. Now, what do you think these kids might have received with their new telescopes, a spotting laser perhaps. I think so.They work great, and make it easy to tell people where a scope is aimed without looking into the scope itself.Dumb Media.... And dumb Parents or kids for aiming these things at aircraft.Regards,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  4. >Gosh, Boeing releases a new blue colour scheme with the 7E7>announcement and a few months later Airbus announces a new>blue colour scheme with the announcement of the 7E7>competitor.>>Not very original but understandable. As if they were designed to compete with each other with these two Aircraft.7e7 3,8, & 9 Series about 289, 217, 257, people...A380 555 People...Ummmm, Not very comparable to me. I disagree with your analogy. And I don't think Blue is only allowed on certain aircraft... And Airbus has been using Blue for years....Maybe the A380 really Competes with the 777, which seats up to 550. But hey, that's only 5 seats less than the A380. I picture the A380 like back when we were living in an apartment, and heard the people walking around upstairs, I'm just not interested.Have a Year ....,Sonar5****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  5. "with several hundred security leaks in Firefox discovered so far from what I hear it's a lot worse than IE..."Proof please.Well then people should just keep using IE then, based upon your post, huh?Don't worry, Microsoft will protect you. :D NOT....."At least Microsoft makes an effort to solve problems,"Well, They did RELEASE A PATCH FOR MSFS2004 huh, so I guess they make an effort to fix things they screw up."Netscape/Mozilla just tell you tough luck maybe in the next version."Bwahahahahahahaha.....Some people will continue to enjoy IE, as FLAWED and security hole ridden as it is then...Besides, some people deserve their flaws. :-outtaBTW - read the First Posts again, I don't use the Mozilla Suite or Netscape, I use Firefox, you know you should research what you speak about before hitting the post message button. 6. For Those of you still using Internet Explorer, there is another trojan IE Exploit out there called "Phel"From:http://www.winplanet.com/article/2701-.htmDecember 30, 2004"Computers running Microsoft's Windows XP are vulnerable to Trojan attacks capable of remotely controlling a user's system even when equipped with the latest Service Pack 2 (SP2) patch, security firm Symantec has warned. The Trojan horse, called "Phel," is capable of corrupting computers visiting a malicious Web site through Internet Explorer's Help controls, according to Symantec. The program exploits a vulnerability within Internet Explorer and SP2 that engages help files from Web pages. The vulnerability was discovered in October.......A spokeswoman for the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant reports programmers are working to correct the vulnerability and will release the security update when the development and testing process is complete. A definitive time table as to when a patch might be issued has not been released."***************Or you can go Grab a better browser, IMHO.... :Dhttp://www.mozilla.org/firefoxHappy New Year,Joe :-outta****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  7. Hi,My Brother In Law got a black and decker laser level for Christmas, we ran outside but it does not work very well in the sky.I do have one I use for Astronomy, but where I live, I don't get a whole lot of Air Traffic, so it's not a problem. Plus I mostly use it in the desert on Campouts when I bring the scope. As far as people tracking one, the Astronomy Lasers would work very well, but I think this is just people checking out their Christmas gifts. Especially if it was done on approaches where people could easily see them.Although they said it was Green Lights, whereas most retail ones are red, but some are green as well, so if you here on the news that ONLY The Military uses green, you will know they are full of beans, and simply Ignorant of the facts. Many are green.I hope they catch them though, but I think all that is needed is an education awareness by the Manufacturers that sell these things.Mine came with a nice little disclaimer. Here it is:http://www.telescope.com/shopping/product/...1&keyword=laserRegards,Joe :-outta****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

Well,If it was an AC problem, you most likely would not notice it in the air, but you would on the ground.Remember, air temperature goes down as altitude goes up, so you may not notice a temp difference.Happy New Year,Joe :-outta****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

  10. Hi Tom,I didn't download it, I installed it directly from the site.http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/installThen you hit the little Firefox logo, (Install Spellbound For Firefox)It then opens up menu boxes where I chose Windows, English (US), and clicked install.I also did this while in my regular Profile, and not in Admin Mode for XPsp2.Once I restarted, it all worked. They do have Dictionary Files Here.http://dictionaries.mozdev.org/installation.htmlSee if that works. Did you download and do a manual install?Regards,Joe
  11. How one person Grieves is certainly their choice. If you read the first post again, the author does say he was touched by this and encourages others to give thought to the disaster. If this is how one particular person chooses to grieve, I certainly have no problem with it.One of those to each his own scenarios.I suggest you all read his post again, and find the Good Things in it and perhaps focus on those.I found it very solemn. You may consider it entertainment, but maybe his thoughts and prayers were made during that flight. As for it being morally worrying, well that is your opinion, but I disagree and I think it was done in good taste. It's not like he in the posted this in the screenshots forum, it is hangar chat, and if this is the way he wants to express himself, so be it, IMHORegards,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

  14. Hi Rob,Thank You, that is what I was looking for. Did you make that by hand? It's exactly what I needed to implement. Thanks,Joe
  15. Thanks Johan,Not so simple though. I am not talking about the kneeboard_keys.htm file. That one I am aware of, and have made use of it.I am talking about commands available in MSFS2004 but NOT ENABLED.These commands exist in:settingsassignmentsall commandsAnd currently have no keyboard or joystick commands linked to them. I want the complete list of all available commands that I can enable. Thanks Anyway, I do appreciate the response.Regards,JoeGrab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  16. Settings-assignments-All Commands file - keys printoutHi all,What I am looking for is the following.I am already very familiar with the kneeboard keys fileRE: Microsoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Aircraftkneeboard_keys.htmWhat I want is to print out or cut and paste all of the available commands that one can see when they view the"settings, assignments, all commands"For instance there are a dozen or so GPS commands in there. Also, is there a way to itemize all key commands in order without a lot of work.IE: CTRL a CTRL b SHIFT Num9 SHift Num5I want to see what is used up and what is not being used without having to hunt and peck my way through the whole file. Thanks in Advance,JoePS _ I posted this elsewhere but received zero responses in 9 days, and thought maybe someone here might know the answer, or be able to lead me in the proper direction. 17. Hi all,Did you Know Firefox has a Spell Checker? I sure didn't. Exposed to something new each day I guess.I was asking a question on the Firefox Forums, and read through the FAQ's, and saw a spell check link.Cool, so I installed it, and now I won't have to go back and edit as much.I'm an excellent speller, I just peck to fast sometimes.Anyway, here it is, and when you get it, you can simply right click in your thread or wherever and it will spell check it for you. It's called Spellbound and can be installed here:http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/indexRegards,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

  19. John,I shot him off an email to ask him about performance without USA Waters.I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here, mayeb he didn't mean to use the word required.I have a feeling it will work just fine, but it may look a bit odd considering MSFS lack of detailed water areas in many spots.I also gave him a link to the thread here. That is also why I grabbed it and opened the readme after I downloaded the 212mb. I couldn't find it searching here in the library, so I went looking for it.Regards,JoePS - For those of you looking for the files, here they are:#1 (Read this first)- http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...04sd&DLID=58771#2 - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...scen&DLID=58784#3 - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...scen&DLID=58785
  20. Ok, this is definately misleading, IMHO.Before you DOWNLOAD this, make sure you understand the following sentence he put in the View me here:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...04sd&DLID=58771"Therefore to achieve the best precision and the best performance with this Usa Roads Pacakge you are required to have also the Usa Waters Packages - "Ok, he says required for best performance and precision, but does not mention it is Payware. The three files total 212mb, so those in dial up should know this upfront.Regards,Joe
  21. Not sure what water package he is talking about though.Since I'm downloading all three right now, maybe it is in the readme. I checked the library and could not find anything by him in FS2004 with regards to water./UPDATEOk, I read the readme, and it says you should get the waters program, BUT THE USA WATERS IS PAYWARE for $34.95...Then went to fsfreeware site he advises in his readme, (NOT FREEWARE), and linked to waters which took me to the order site for USA waters....Kind of misleading, I think they should say the USA waters is Payware before people start downloading, as it is a bit misleading, especially when he says we should have it.Doesn't say waters is payware in the readme or the viewme section of the library.Readme does say for Maximum results you should have it, so maybe it works pretty good without the waters payware product. Guess I'll try it and find out.Regards,JoePS - for those that do want to pay for the USA Waters, it's here:http://www.fsaviation.com/terrashop/Me, I'll pass on the waters but I will try the roads...

  23. Hi Peter,I would recommend you set up a seperate Gaming Hardware Profile. This is different than a User profile, and is discussed over at Black Viper.I've gained quite a few FPS by implementing this strategy.Info on how to do it here:http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/xpprofiles.htmThe obvious advantage is having different configurations for different tasks.Ie:DefaultGamingSafeInternetThen each time you restart your Computer, you will be given a menu with a choice of hardware profiles to choose one. If you don't choose one, the default one loads up. This is my everyday profile. This has reclaimed for me quite a bit of CPU resources, as well as Ram.And My system is nothing to brag about, I still run the following, and it runs very well, IMHO.Athlon 1.2 ghz512 MB RamFX5600 Over Clocked Vid CardVoice Recognition through Flight AssistantRun MSFS in 1600 x 1200 32.These Harware Profiles are different than Ken's FSAutoStart.I've done tests, and my ram was not returned to me completely when I shut down services through a secondary program or through task manager, etc.... By using my own gaming Profile, I have been able to keep the most ram. This solution works best for me, and YMMV. :-)I'll be happy to help you out if you get stuck, but it is pretty straight forward if you follow the instructions.Keeps me from buying a new computer anyway. :-)The easiest method for those that don't like to tinker, and want a quick solution would be Ken's FS Autostart.Hope This helps,Joe
  24. I agree with Bob,Try out the FREEWARE RealAir 172.Especially before buying anything. :-)You will appreciate the sounds and the airfile is Top Notch, IMHO.And it's right here in the Avsim Library, no need to go browsing somewhere else. Here you go:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=RootRegards,JoePP-ASEL
  25. Pictures tell a story better than wordsA Terrible tragedy, that could have been averted, but when it happens every 100 years or so, the call to action sometimes comes too slow.I found these pics through another site I hang out at.Thought you all might find them interesting, since it views the Tsunami as it hits with a $7999 camera, a canon EOS 1DS Mark II.http://www.pbase.com/isselsTwo Galleries, high res.During, and after. There will be plenty of time to donate for rebuilding, and the initial aid is already flowing. BEWARE of fake organizations you have never heard of.
