As you may know, I do come up with some crazy ideas. Crazy but thoughtfully applicable. Hopefully(G), this is not my last crazy idea.I need to put a 737 aircraft inside the MD_83 folder. I know panels can be aliased real easy to reference another aircraft panel. Can the aliasing or any other format be applied to aircrafts? How would you change the AIRCRAFT.CFG in the MD_83 folder.Appreciate the help.......and the laughter.Thanks.Abe

Jim that is Great about KLAX etc...I would love it if you possibly could indulge me by assigning TWA to building 3. I hope I am not asking too much. It brings Real memories to me.......1970 - 1990.Thanks.Abe

Thanks guys. I should not have jumped the gun and asked a general question about a fairly complex problem. Essentially, I just wanted to see if my FS9 afcads of KLAX and KTOA would work in FSX. I created local traffics and wanted to see the basic parkings - specially TWA - implemented in FSX. That part works.....after I did a conversion of course. As for the bells and whistles and perfections, I'll just have to wait for somebody smarter than me to come up with the solutions. Thanks again guys. It's just wonderful to be a part of a group like you.Abe

Can FS9 AFCADS be used in FSX?Abe
-
Thanks Reggie and Paul.I already have downloaded repaints of many 747's and 737's and I have implemented some of them whenever possible in the original folders of FSX and I have got very good results. I am going to expand on that by following your suggestions.By the way, concerning my own personal TRAFFIC, what I had done was, after putting my own traffic.bgl's in FSX, I added these 2 lines in FSX.cfgSimObjectPaths.6=AIRCRAFTSimObjectPaths.7=F:FS2004AIRCRAFTand that did the trick. I did not have to transfer any of the used aircrafts to FSX.I am going to work on the suggestions that you both mentioned to enhance the basic FSX traffic which I think is reasonably good.By the way, thank you again, and I am always open for suggestions.Abe

Like I mentioned before, Reggie. I have my own personal Ai Traffic. I am just trying to tinker with the existant FSX AI Traffic. Trying to replace the fictitious Airlines with REAL World Airlines.Abe
-
Reggie one more question.Does it mean that I can only use 4 aircrafts in the 747-400 folder?Boeing 747-400Boeing 747-400 Paint2Boeing 747-400 Paint4Boeing 747-400 Paint5Boeing 747-400 Paint8Or is there an additional trick up your sleeve.Thansks.Abe

Thanks Reggie. That's a BIG HELP. I'll give it a GO.Abe

Thanks Reggie.I have my own custom made AI TRAFFIC files. But what I want to do is modify the FSX AI native files. I succeeded by changing the 737's and 747's by replacing them with real-world ones.Since NEW AI is generated everytime FSX is activated, and since obviously it is going through the 737 and 747 folders and picking up the newly added aircrafts, can I modify the aircrafts residing in other folders folders? Thanks.Abe
-
I think that FSX built-in AI is re-generated each time it is run. I have replaced many of the built-in airlines aircrafts with real-world airlines and that works just fine.My question is. To generate the AI, does FSX read through SPECIFIC folders to build the new AI TRAFFIC? Does anybody know the pattern that FSX follows? Thanks.Abe

Thanks again Jean-Paul. Great help!I'll check into resizing and updating the database.Best RegardsAbe

Thanks again Jean-Paul.That did the trick. I had to keep the DATA files inside their own folder. It works ok.Two more favors please. What is the best way to update the DATA without doing EACH entry one at a time? How about RESIZING the RWYINFO window? Make it smaller.Thanks.Abe
-
Thanks Jean-Paul.I did copy the three files....RWYINFO.GAU,PRWYDATA.TXT and PNAVDATA.TXT in FSXGAUGES. This was acknowledged by FSX when I restarted it. Apparently the GAU file is not seeing the DATA files. The only files I found in the ZIP file were the above 3 files. Please let me know if other files or folders are included with that. Thanks again.Abe

Anybody using RWYINFO2?I installed it. It displays ok. Click on APT. Type Icao code. Enter.Nothing happens.Appreciate any help.ThanksAbe

Thanks Patrick.I am going to try that, see if it works.Abe

Thanks guys.I was just trying to see if there is an easy way out. Just doing ALIASING for each independent panel which could be accessed by merely just using Shift1, Shift2, etc......Abe

I would like to do something crazy....Please no laughs.I know that I can put this reference in the panel folder to use the panel of another aircraft " alias=B747panel".Now the CRAZY question. Again do NOT ask why(G).How do I go about adding additional aircrafts' panels? if possible. Also can I use Shift 1, Shift 2....etc to access the various panels?ThanksAbe

Dell 2707WFP display
ABE replied to EngineRoom's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
JS, the resolution is 1920x1200, same as the 24" I believe. As a monitor it's great, but video sometimes looks grainy. But I am very satisfied with it. Like I said earlier, I would have went for the 30" if I had the equipment to support it. I am thinking seriously that when I upgrade, in a few months, I will get the 30" as a second monitor. If you have the money and equipment, go for the 30".....better resolution.Abe -
Pardon my stupid question. Does this mean that the patch would not work on "Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2" ?Abe

Now that the real mccoys are coming in...........
ABE replied to ABE's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Thank you Rhett, Gary, and Reggie.Reggie, you have a great site. I enjoyed navigating there. I downloaded both the GA and AIRLINE files. I'll probably have to decompile them and and take out the STOCK aircraft. As I mentioned earlier. I am able to enjoy my OLD FS2004 traffic.bgl's WITHOUT transferring all the aircrafts, including PAI, from FS2004 to FSX. All I had to do was reference it in FSX.CFG and point it to the FS2004AIRCRAFT folder. It works just GREAT!Thanks again guys. It is people like you that make flying so much more enjoyable. For whatever it's worth, I am ALWAYS open for suggestions.Abe -

ABE replied to ABE's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Thanks Rhett. What I really would like to do is to COMPLETELY take out or delete as many of the STOCK aircrafts as possible. And essentially, possibly, substitute real world aircraft instead of stock in the traffic.bgl. Can that be accomplished? I guess you have decompile the file and edit the aircrafts. Thanks again, Rhett. I am open for additional suggestions.By the way, I succeeded in implementing my FS2004 traffic.bgl's into FSX. I can now see my own old stuff running in FSX. This was done real easy without moving the FS2004 aircrafts to FSX. Just referencing it in the CFG file.Abe -
The new repaints are starting to come in. Welcome to the REAL WORLD of American Airlines, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, etc....Now the dilemma....maybe. What is the best and fastest way to get rid of the extra baggage of Orbit, Global, Pacifica, Unmarked, etc.....cleanly??And also, what is the best way to rebuild the traffic files by substituting the new repaints for the built-in ones?Appreciate any thoughts and help.ThanksAbe
