  1. Thanks guys. So far it looks that the ORIGINAL is holding its own. Apparently there are NO OVERHEATING problems. I'll wait to see more responses.Abe
  2. Who chose to stick with the original INTEL fan that came with the processor (core 2)? If not, what was your choice of replacement? I am looking ahead to getting a new system and this should help me decide.Thanks.Abe
  3. Thanks Luis. I'll check that out.Meanwhile, I discovered that there is a program "SDE090" has a scanner built-in that displays all the airports. Very nice interface.Cheers.Abe
  4. How do you access (or find) the default airport afcad files in FSX? My guess is that it is embedded in one file.Thanks.Abe
  5. Hi Rhett,The BGL file is 93kb, decompiled with BGL2XML, it generated an 825kb XML. Can I email you the file privately since Avsim does not accept a file that size?Abe
  6. Thanks Rhett. I could not upload the file, it's 825KB - too large.Abe
  7. Thanks Rhett.Actually I am trying to recompile an AFCAD file which I decompiled and modified in XML format. I tried the SDK Bglcom, it did not work. I did use the DOS prompt command. Can such an XML file be compile with BGLcom or some other compiler? Thanks.Abe
  8. So how does one view the thumbnail file? Thanks.Abe
  9. Thanks, Loyd. I suspected that but I could not display the image. I tried several paint programs. No good.Abe
  10. Where is the exact location of the thumbnail of a saved flight? Thanks.Abe
  11. Thanks John. That's another option to consider.Abe

    WEIRD AI'S

Hi Rhett,Thanks again for your help with my constellation Traffic.bgl, the connies takeoff and land perfectly well. I made a touch and go traffic file and that works just fine.I tried several files, goodyear, fuji, yankszep, 2004_chicago flyranosaurus....Most of these are flyable in FSX but they do NOT show in the traffic.bgl file. You are giving me hope again, I appreciate that.Abe
  13. Thanks Ron.I am getting a new system with QX6850 overclocked 3.66, part of the package deal is Vista 64-bit. So I am venturing into unchartered terrain. It is good that you point out that the pluses outweigh the minuses. In addition to FSX, I do lots of video capture and I am hoping that Vista would be able to handle both.Abe

Just in case somebody missed this. (G)
  15. Thank you guys for all the input. It is very helpful for future considerations.Abe
  16. If you are using Vista and XP, Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks.Abe
  17. Has anybody been successful in creating a TRAFFIC.BGL made out of crazy shapes like blimps, godzillas, cars, fish, whale.....all of these exist in FS2004 and some in FSX. I tried to do something limited in FSX, but the files mentioned above, although very playable as aircraft in FSX, do NOT SHOW in a TRAFFIC FILE.I hope somebody was successful and would not mind sharing there expereience.Thanks.AbeP.S. This is for my grandchildren........not for me.(g)
  18. BEAUTIFUL - MAGICThanks Tom,I just replaced, like you suggested, the AIR file with an FS2004-DC3.It worked like magic. I just renamed the file, this way I did not have to do any pointing. That simple, thanks Tom. I noticed as you mentioned that:1. The AI's,TWA,KLM,and PAA, each took different routing to KLAX.2. When I speeded up FSX by 2x and 4x they became very jerky, I only did that because I was anxious to see the result. There was also some zigzagging while taxiing with the speedup. Thanks again, Tom and Rhett, for taking time out to help a desperate man.One more thing. Would the conny do touch-and-go's in its original state or its new state?Appreciate everything.Abethe TWA is the AI-I sort of piloted the PAA(g)
  19. Thanks again, Rhett. As you can see below, I modified the wing-span to 117 andatc_parking_types=RAMP, atc_parking_codes=RAMP, it did not work.I am attaching the whole aircraft.cfg. Maybe you can see something worth modifying.Appreciate the help.Abe[fltsim.0]title=CONSTELLATION-TWAsim=L049Amodel= ;TWA Star of Switzerlandpanel= ;Rebuilt from VN2 to VN049 but see development notessound=texture=TWAkb_checklists=L-049A_checkkb_reference=L-049A_refui_manufacturer=CONSTELLATIONui_type=CONSTui_variation=TWAatc_heavy=0atc_id=N90831atc_airline=atc_flight_number=104description=FSDZigns BetaTHREE, TWA, N90831, Star of Switzerland. If used for short haul fuel must be removed so that weight does not exceed 77,800lbs on landing. When short hauling you should depart at 80,000lbs max, i.e remove 10,000lbs of fuel *before* trading fuel for payload. When short hauling the L049D/E or L149 depart at 85,000lbs max.None of these aircraft were routinely used for short hauls, but e.g. BOAC departing Heathrow needed to tank at Shannon or Prestwick before crossing the Atlantic to tank again at Gander(CYQX) before continuing to CYUL, KEWR, or KIDL (KJFK). Depart EGLL at 85,500lbs (max) and only on reaching EGPK or EINN tank up to max fuel and adjust cargo to depart at 98,000lbs for the crossing.Moments of Inertia (L049A conversion)empty_weight_roll_MOI=2000000 empty_weight_pitch_MOI=630000empty_weight_yaw_MOI=2430000 empty_weight_coupled_MOI=0.0[GeneralEngineData]engine_type=0Engine.0=13.928, -29.887, 2.234Engine.1=15.814, -13.683, 0.423Engine.2=15.814, 13.683, 0.423Engine.3=13.928, 29.887, 2.234fuel_flow_scalar=1.0max_contrail_temperature=-20[piston_engine]Wright R-3350-745C18BA-3 yields 2200hp for take off at sea level and 2000hp METO at 4800 feet. 21. I was thinking about the DELL 30" which has a max res. of 2600x1600(I think). The price was about $1500. I got the Westinghouse 37" for about half the price....$799, it has all the inputs you need, HDMI, PC, PIP, SVIDEO, DVI, YPbPr, and of course (drums please) F S X.Of course I am gloating!!Abe
  22. Thanks Rhett.1. The Conny does not have "atc_parking_codes="2. My destination airports are KLAX and KSMO, I checked "FS10airports.dat", neither has a 19.0m ramp, lots of 18.0.3. I backed up "FS10airports.dat" then I changed 2 Gates from 18.0 to 19.0......would the change be effectual?4. KLAX has been modified.Let me know if I missed something.Abe
