  1. Thank you gentlemen for all your suggestions. I will surely try them all. My goal essentially was curiosity, experimentation and backup. Migrating fully to XP64 is under consideration, but I will just keep all other instances of FSX. There is SOOO much to learn.I definitely will post any progress, and of course any additional thoughts and suggestions are very welcome.Abe
  2. I installed FSX in a new partition with Windows XP64.I copied my present FSX folder which is resided in 'F' in its entirety to the XP64 partition which is the new 'C'I modified the path in FSX.CFG and other pathes from F to CEverything, specially ALL the SCENERY is working very well with the new path implemented from F to C with the new Scenery.cfg. And of course it runs appreciably faster than XP32.Now a problem. Some of the aircrafts and some of the saved flights DO NOT RUN. FSX CRASHES period.Could this be because of the 'XP64' compatability factor?Appreciate any help. Thanks.Abe
  3. Thank you very much, Jim. I found my notes. And I had already installed it.Abe
  4. A while back there was a mention about an installation that would bring out airport names and locations while flying using SHIFT + something.Would appreciate any help. Thanks.Abe
  5. Many FS9 panels are incompatable with FSX
  6. Even though I have 3 hard drives, I use ONE hard drive with multiple FOLDERS. Each FOLDER with its own full system, XP, XP64, VISTA64.To use any of those systems, I just open that particular folder ONLY. Works great!!! If you only have ONE drive, you still can have multiple bootups.Abe
  7. Your best bet for the most enjoyable AI is to BUILD YOUR OWN. Take sometime to study how to build AI TRAFFIC. Then do your thing.I have AI traffic of CONSTELLATIONS, 747'S, OLD HISTORIC AIRCRAFT, LOCATIONS, ETC......all built to MY taste. Do I use other FREEWARE AI? Of course I do!! But nothing is more comparably enjoyable than to build your own, your taste and your preferences.Abe
  8. Thanks guys.I agree with you about FSTscenery. I downloaded it, I'll be installing very soon. I did a post earlier on of copying my OLD FSX to a new partition of XP64. Everything went very well and my FPS increased by the average of 20+. The only discrepancy was that SOME scenery did not display, hence, my request for fixing that up. I hope that FSTscenery will fix that. Thanks again, I'll be reporting on this.Abe
  9. Is there an easy way to rebuild a complete Scenery.cfg from scratch? If so, how? And which scenery.cfg would that be? In FSX main? Or in 'C' with the other FSX files?Appreciate any input. Thanks.Abe

  11. Thanks Kevin. I am well aware of the fact that this is a fresh install in a clean environment that would be degraded with the addtition of other programs. However, I created this within a FOLDER that would be confined strictly to the new FSX. This FOLDER would be OPENED and run by itself, so there will not be any additional clutter and thus, hopefully, the performance would stay the same. The other fact that I mentioned in my initial posting was that I took my OLD FSX, copied it exactly the same then I copied my 'C' based FSX related files and everything worked without any problem.Needless to say, I am happy with the results......ALL RESULTS.Abe
  12. That's 20+ at KLAX........50-60 outside.
  13. I did that on March 31, 2008.........It's perfectly LEGIT!Abe
  14. I've been running FSX in an OLD(not terribly clean) rebuilt XP Pro Sp2 environment. I decided to use a FRESH XP-64. What a difference!!I was doubtful if my present FSX with all the addons and excess baggage would work as is if I just copied the basic FSX control files that reside in the 'C' partition. I did just that. And the results, ASTOUNDING, FSX runs with an approximate 20 FPS higher than my old system.Abe
  15. I am using Vista home premium 64 and XP Pro with 4Gigs of Ram...practically not much difference.Abe
  16. It's good to see many people opting for the LARGE widescreen from 27" and up. The larger, the better, provided you get a res. of 1920x1080 or higher. The experience is just GREAT!!Abe
  17. Once you try large widescreens, you'll never go back to anything less than 30". I have a westtinghouse 37" @ 1920x1080 and a Dell 27" @1920x1200. The distortion, if any, is minimal. The experience UNBELIEVABLE.Abe
  18. 1. Install FSX to partition F2. After renaming the FSX folder temporarily to FSXwhatever, install FSX from a different partition (a 2nd "C") to the same F partition. This time you proceed to install SP1 and SP2.My question.....what specifically would be the changes:In the second 'C' partition and the second FSXWould appreciate any information. Thanks.Abe
  19. The experience with the 777 is great. I have flown it several times KLAX/LFPG/KLAX and round trip LAX/TLV/LAX.........eastword 14:30 hours, westword 15:50 hours.......of course NONSTOP......Time flew(no pun).Enjoy.Abe
  20. Before I got my new system with HD2900XT, I had (still have it) my 850XT hooked up with a Westinghouse 37" and a Dell 27", with no problem. Actually, with the Dell, I had it connected once with VHS and then with DVI, using the small adapter that came with it.Abe
