  1. Just have a look at the Madeira (LPMA) airport. It is just the same! Some time ago I posted a message on this subject but could not get any help.Best Regards,
  2. I have a simuilar machine, but with only 512MB RAM. Using a resolution og 1024x768, 32 bit colour, I usually get around 24-28fps, although I do not have all sliders to maximum.
  3. Thank you for your reply. I used FS2002 during all its existence and I was never aware of this possibility. And now, with FS2004, it was only by chance that I found it! I think I have better to go through all the manual if I do not want to loose some useful features.Best Regards,
  4. Some days ago I inadvertently hit CTRL W and to my surprise I was transported from my cockpit to some other place. I hit the same keystroke again and the scene changed. Then I looked in fs9 manuals and I found CTRL W is controllng "Chasing views". I understand it might have to see with AI aircraft, but does someone exactly know what is its purpose?Happy New Year!
  5. Without being so drastic, I also take much more pleasure from navigating using the "older" techniques. GPS is too easy!
  6. In Madeira Airport I see a very strange phenomenon: the sea water climbs the cliffs and almost reaches the runway! Is this a problem with my installation, or has someone else experienced the same problem? In that case is there any known fix for it?
  7. I have been following this thread with interest, mainly due to the assumptions of ages connected with attitudes, and of a "game" that some of us is taking too seriously...So it looks as a kind of fight between the youngsters and the elderly...I find this fight rather funny, as my interest in aviation started when I was 8-10 years old, and today, after more than half a century, my enthusiasm is about the same! This is to say that I take my hobby seriously, and I do not feel "comfortable" when it is called a game. This also means that I agree that the language we use, if we really want to communicate, has to be accurate. So I come back to the landing. In fact ILS, as the name stands for, is a landing aid that, when taken to an extreme, with the adequate equipment both on ground and airborne, can effectively land an airplane by itself. As when it comes to GPS, what can be said is that with current commercial equipment only an approach can be obtained. This is due to the low vertical accuracy of the existing GPS, when compared with the horizontal accuracy. However with experimental equipment, where the accuracy of the GPS is enhanced by ground reference equipment, the landing can and has been achieved. This is one of the goals of the European project Galileo.Merry Christmas to all fellow simmers of all ages!
  8. Thanks for the advise. In fact I have a double boot system, with a disk and OS (WinXP) dedicated to FS2004. The other disk runs my other applications. There I have installed the last ASUS drivers, which include 52.16.Meanwhile I have read somewhere else that 45.23 is still the best driver for FS2004. Is it worth a try?Regards,
  9. I have spent a good part of my weekend assessing 53.03 against 52.16 and I could not arrive yet to a decision on which one will stay in my computer.I always made the same flight, trying to follow the same pattern and making the same observations. On the runway I would say 53.03 will have any improvement of possibly 1-2 fps on a level of 24-28.During the flight sometimes it seemed to me that 53.03 would somewhat "stutter" when in 2D cockpit I was looking sidewards; on the other hand it would be faster in composing the image after a large change in the scene. 53.03 seemed to produce a better texture of the sea. In general 52.16 seemed to provide a smoother scenery when looking sidewards, although it would be difficult to say whether the frame rate was higher than that with 53.03.I made all tests with the default 737, no overhead panel, at around noon, at Tacoma. My resolution is 1024x768, 32-bit colour. I would take-off and immediately turn left, until flying parallel to the runway, climbing to 3000 feet. The frame rate was limited to 50, and very often the result would be in the range 40-50, with both drivers. On the approach, flying around 2000-2300', sometimes the frame rate would drop to 19-22 when looking sidewards, in some parts of the scenery, but this would happen with both drivers. It would be difficult to say which one drpped more.So my trials were completely inconclusive.Has someone found a good test to show the advantage of one over the other?Merry Christmas to all fellow simmers!
  10. In this same thread I see good (yours) and not so good reports about the new nVidia 53.03 drivers. As it might depend on the graphics board you have, will you please let me know which board you have?I have an ASUS GeForce 4 Ti4800SE. I would not like to change my current driver unless I am pretty sure of getting an improvement. Thanks in advance.
  11. You are right! Thank you!I already had re-installed FS9 and got the same result (no scrolling). Now I understand why I remembered that it had already worked normally, as when I first installed FS9 I had the AA in my graphics board "Application Controlled". Then, following a recommended procedure to optimize the frame rate, I had it controlled by the graphics board using a setting 2xQ, where Q stands for a GeForce technique said to have almost the effect of 4x and the 3D performance of 2x. I changed it to 4x and the scroll is back! Why should AA have to see with scrolling? It is a mistery for me.Now I have to choose what is best for me, as I had a reduction of some 2fps.Best Regards,
  12. I found out yesterday that the text on the kneeboard does not scroll correctly. There is some change in the bottom or top lines, depending on the direction of the movement, but that is all. I am pretty sure I have used it before without any problem. Any idea of what might be happening? I tested the same function in fs2k2 and it runs smoothly.Anyone can help?Best Regards
  13. I also have a black screen, not always but very often, when I hit the Alt key. It started happening when I made some adjustments to improve the frame rate, But I did not yet looked which one is causing it.Best Regards,
  14. I have installed the AT6D by Robert Hawk, with a panel by JRLucariny. In the panel I miss several instruments (airspeed, VOR, NDB) and I cannot access the radio panel. Is this normal? Has it happened to someone else?I contacted Robert Hawk and he directed me to JRLucariny, but I can't find his email address. Will someone be so kind and send it to me?Best Regards,

  16. I have downloaded the RealAzores scenary. I knew it was developed for FS2k2, but the available information said it was compatible, with minor glitches, with FS9. However, when I tried to install it the message I got was that it could not open a directory (which does not exist in FS9).I would like to have the help from those who have already installed it in FS9, as the help from Real Azores can take as long as four days!Best Regards,:-wave
  17. Is it already able to correct/install Navaids? If yes, will it replace both older AFCAD and EasyNavs?Best Regards,
  18. This one seems to be worse than that of Brussels! I hope Microsoft will be hearing us and will correct this in a future patch (there will be one?...).Regards,
  19. I have noticed some misalignment between the runways and the ILS arrowheads, both in the GPS and map presentations, at least in the higher scales. A good example for this is the Brussels airport, where it seems there is no correlation between the ILS arrowheads and the runways strips. This is very annoying as, in fact, the misalignment is between the runway strips and the actual runways. So, when approaching an airport without ILS, using the GPS as an aid to get the aircraft aligned with the runway, results in having to make a heading correction when the runway is visible. This is what happens in the Madeira airport, where the approach is made on a curve: the GPS leads you to a landing on the lefthand side of the runway!Does anyone know how to correct this?Best Regards,
  20. >However, I finally took the>plunge and installed it onto a XP2100 GFT200 with pleasing>results (all sliders at max and fluid frame rates).>For my reference, will you explain what you consider "fluid frame rates".My system is an AMD XP2600+, GF4 Ti4800SE, 512MB, Windows XP Home. To ensure that I never come below 10-12 fps, I cannot have all sliders to the right: I have some of them to the right, some at 2/3.I have on-board sound (A7V8X-X motherboard). Do you think I could get an improvement with a sound board?Regards,
  21. Do you mean the aircraft.cfg file provided by Trev Morson? I downloaded it when it was available, but have not yet tried it.Regards,
  22. (I have repeated the message by mistake)
  23. Are all the navaids in "generic.bgl"? In FS2k2 there were separate files for the different regions of the world, and moreover, the information was distributed over two different files: one to be accessed with AFCAD and the other with EasyNavs.I have right now sent an email to Herv
  24. Thank you for your reply! In FS2k2 both AFCAD and EasyNavs were required to install or modify navaids. Will it be the same in FS9, or will AFCAD 2 alone do the job?Best Regards,
  25. In FS2k2 I was able to use AFCAD, together with EasyNavs, to correct some Navaids (such as Genoa, Nice C
