Change from Intrntnl to Americas IFR Database
I've installed into the Carenado Cessna Skylane 182 RG II, Eric Fjellstedt's retrofit, the Reality XP Flight Line 430 and the Flight Line T gages. Everything works fine except for the database; the 430's initialize each time with the Intrntnl IFR database. I can change it to the Americas but would like to make the change permanent. I've saved the flight with the Americas but that does not save the database with it. I need some help.Thanks.Russ

Review Rating System
Hi,I'd like to find the rating system being used in the Reviews. Is it published somewhere? I figure 1 to 5 is from good to best but where do the following fit in - or do they fit in:5 stars- AOE what does AOE stand for? I assume this is better than a plain 5 stars. What is the difference between a Gold Star Award, a Gold Star, and an Avsim Gold Star?Where does "see review" fit into the rating system or does it?thanks.Russ

Does iFly 747-400 work in FSX?
The 747-400 worked perfectly for me in FSX. At the moment it doesn't have SIDs and STARs so I'm thinking of going back to the 2004 version which does.Does anyone know where I can get SIDs and STARS for the FSX version of the 747-400? That would be nice. Even without them I've enjoyed the airplane- never having flown an airplane with an FMS before. Very nice.Russ

iFly's great B-747 - Thank you!
Thank you iFly Team. You did a great job. I've got a lot to learn about this airplane. Thanks again.RussI have the FSX version. I wonder if you can tell me where I can download the SIDs and STARs for the FSX version. I see the FS9 SIDs and STARs but not the FSX. Maybe they are the same.

Startup Failed on Piper Archer by Dreamfleet
I just bought the DreamFleet PA28-181 Archer II and get the failure message "Starup failed, unknown FS aircraft type PIPER PA-28-181 Archer Dream Fleet- 1" when I load VoxATC. I have been using VoxATC for some time successfully with other A/C I've bought specifically the Flight1/ Dreamfleet Cardinal.I need some help. When I go to Select Aircraft it's listed along with the Cardinal and appears and loads normally except for it's relationship to VoxATC.ThanksRuss

Version 4 Manual is ready for download
The link is still dead as of this moment - to me any way. Maybe there is something I don't know but I can't down load it. Can anybody help me?I've downloaded many PDF documents but this one doesn't seem to work the "normal way". When I attempt to download the version 4 manual the image "ON TIME & BOARDING & ON TIME" emlarges but it stops there. If I "Save Target As.. I've simply downloaded the image to my desktop. My copy of RC4 has arrived and will be delivered to me on Christmas morning in the mean time while waiting I could at least be reading the manual. I'd like to be reading manual. Yes, I would! Russ

Garmin 1000 Simulator
Sorry about the use of the word "download" regarding the Garmin 1000. I didn't download it I ordered the CD at the URL given in a previous reply to this inquiry. I've done a large number of downloads lately and I got careless with the word. Russ

Garmin 1000 Simulator
Hi,Thanks all for answering my enquiry. Great help as usual. Especially the last one. When I disconnected the joystick and put it into the TRACK FPL mode the airplane icon now tracks the flight plan and the attitude remains stable. I originally thought the joystick had to be connected because the OPTIONS menu has a Joystick Axis Configutsation - so the user must be able to use it (sure would have been a nice feature). Additionally without a joystick connected the PFD attitude flopped all over the place uncontrollably and mostly up side down. I can get along with it now. Programming flight plans and flying it with the autopilot works just fine for my learning needs. As for giving the URL for down loading the Garmin 1000, when I went back to the site I couldn't find it. So much thanks to the reply of the responder who did find it and gave it to everyone.Hmmm. As for the simulator taking a lot of CPU power I remember the 530 did also and that has now been fixed. Thanks,Russ

Garmin 1000 Simulator
Hi,Has any one downloaded the Garmin 1000 simulator and got it to work? I did in anticipation that some one is going to put it into an airplane for FS2004 shortly (anyway I hope so) and I want to know how to use it. Additionally as a CFII I hope to teach in an airplane with one of these things and again I want to be ready. It's beautiful. It cost me $9.99 - mostly shipping.Questions I have come up with - I connected a MS yoke to it as suggested but only get slow pitch and roll response on the PFD and the airplane icon does not follow the control movements. Has anyone a better response?I cannot turn the Demo mode off. Has anyone a different experience? In the DEMO MODE with the TRK MODE in "TRK FPL" the airplane icon does not track the flight plan. Same question, has anyone got it to track the flight plan?I've read the manuals - there's a lot to read - but find no answer to my questions. As I read the manuals I get the impression the yoke can be used in the manual mode of the DEMO MODE to fly the airplane thorough a simulated flight plan. Another impression is that the airplane icon should track the flight plan with TRK FPL enabled. The engine RPM goes uncontrollably to 2940 RPM and the airspeed to 178 knots and stays there.Still a heck of a lot to learn from it. Can anybody help me? What am I missing?Russ

Kansas City Intl to Minneapolis St Paul Intl IFR
Hi,I just finished the VoxATC demo of the above flight with the Meridian. It was a very nice flight. Some comments:The squawk number is the same on all of the demos and all of the flights I've generated. I wonder if different numbers will be available on the next up date?Twice I was given vectors for traffic; for each course change for traffic the first vector turned me 90 degrees off course, the second turned me back at 90 degrees to my course, and the third issued before I arrived at my course turned me so that I was flying away from my next waypoint. When I was told to resume my own navigation I had to turn an angle of probably 135 degrees to get back on course. I felt the vectors were quite unrealistic and wonder if this is being addressed also.I flew this flight because it included a STAR. I've been trying to generate my own STARs without success. In this case however the STAR was issued to me (KASPER 2) and although I've never been given one in real life I thought I did well. After being issued the STAR I began to wonder how I would know when to begin to descend only to realize when the star was issued the words included, "descend via the kasper two arrival mason city transition" and so began my descent at that tme. Nice flight. I really enjoyed it. Question: Has anybody generated a star of their own? I have been issued the SIDs I generated but never the STAR. When I get to the point in the flight where it would be issued - it is missing.Russ

SIDS AND STARS
Zane,Thanks for your reply.I flew the route last night also. Actually I flew to the Reno Airraces for the day and flew back about 6 PM. Beautiful day.Of course your right uncontrolled airports don't usually have STARS associated with them (do any I wonder?). I'm trying to use the STAR to get the route I want; same for the SID.I've got to review my flights from last week to be sure but if I recall right I made a flight to CCR which is of course towered and obtained the same results. Looking at the VoxATC SID & STAR Setup page I see I made the SUNOL SID again but this time with a SALAD transition and a STAR called COLLI starting at COLLI and ending at the CCR VOR intersection called CONCORD. Looking at it this AM, I can see now I should used KANAN intersection as the end of the STAR.Do the intersetions used in a SID or STAR have to have five letters?I started and ended the STAR at 5100, no change in altitude. Is that OK?On the flight to CCR as soon as I made the turn at SUNOL toward SALAD I was given a clearance for the NDB at CCR. That was OK but I was looking for the STAR. Of course I could have changed the approach to the one I wanted but what I did not get was the STAR.Is my flight too short? Thanks.Russ

SIDS AND STARS
HI,I need some help with the STARs. I complete the SID, fly my flight plan expecting at the STAR start waypoint to be given my STAR but only get cleared for an approach.I made a flight plan from KRHV my home airport to Truckee up by Lake Tahoe. The SID name is SUNOL @ 5000 and the transition is MANTECA. The STAR name is HANGTOWN @11000 and the end point is SQAW @9500.The SUNOL SID went fine. After passing SUNOL ATC told me to climb to my cruising altitude of 11000 but when I got to the HANGTOWN VOR (HNW) and the start of the STAR it was never issued and finally when I passed the SQAW VALLEY VOR (SWR) I got cleared for the GPS-A approach. That wasn't bad but without a clearance to the IAF (LOLLA) I couldn't get there to perform it. I've probably done something wrong but don't recognize it. I hope I gave enough information, but would be glad to give more.I tried several other flights, one to Concord and another to South County with the same results. The flight to TRK takes too much time that's why I changed to Concord (CCR) (still too much time) and tried again with a still shorter one to South County (Q99). I had the same results with all three flights. Russ

VoxATC Status
Hi,Has anybody bought the Delux program? Have any comments? Where are all the comments on this forum that we normally see when a program first comes on the market? I'm wondering why the company is so lacking in communication. Does anybody know? The thought comes to my mind that the company doesn't care if any one buys the program because of their lack of communication. Having bought the original program I like it. It appears to have great potential. I'd love to see a listing of the capabilities in the original next to what is included/added to the delux version. Is it only the voices? I thought the original price was high but worth a try and now of course am wondering about this latest version which is priced much higher - if original purchasers will get the Delux Version at some reduced price as an inducement or recognition. VoxATC Flight Plan
Tim,Thank you very much for your answer. I realize I have to use a flight plan to know where you are going. It's just that I want one where I don't have to open a flight plan and have flight following. I'm not against them it's just that in the beginning it's too much communication. Later on they can be added. Tim, you hint at the very solution in your reply when you say, "I would guess it uses the .pln file to determine the needed ATC callsigns and sequencing, then just polls FS9 for timing cues." If VoxATC uses the .pln file to determine the needed call signs I'd like to believe it could "not" use some of them also and thus a simple disable or enable box for checking would do the job just like "Enroute Traffic Instructions".When I read your reply I was concerned my question was needless because I couldn't recall if I had "Enroute Traffic Instructions" checked. I didn't. I think it is the proximity to class "C" airspace that causes the vectoring. In any case I got around the vectoring by making a flight plan out in the San Joquin Valley from Merced to Tracy. Thanks again.Russ
