  1. I am surprised that there have been no replies to my post above. This is a real issueaffecting ASA on remote, of this I'm now certain. ASV6.6 always worked well and updated weather on remote providing WideFS was active, it didn't matter if you started FS9 first or FSInn or whatever, it was always reliable andcommunicated well with FS9. ASA does not carry out this task very well and there isobviously something that interferes with the updating process. For me it has been hitand miss I'm sad to say, even after following the "correct" start up sequence, blah, blah.Furthermore if you are flying online and your FS crashes and you restart it, the existingASA on the remote will not reconnect to FS9 and update the weather like ASV6 did, mostlikely it'll freeze on whatever weather station was active when it lost FS9 connection. The only way I've managed to get it to work again is to restart both PCs and follow the start up sequence, now what good is that to online flyiers who need to quicly restart the Sim and reconnect to weather.Firewalls, ports, antivirus all checked and not interfering in any way whatsoever. Networkchecked for latency, etc. also showing no issues.I'm beginning to feel that FSInn weather although with basic interface, does a splendid and reliablejob compared to ASA. So Hifi Sim it's bye bye from me, I'd rather spend my time flying than messing around with an expensive piece of software that doesn't give me basic functionality.Regards
  2. Shortly after I downloaded and tried out ASA for a few times, I posted here to get advice on ASA locking to a given reporting weather station and not updating the reporting stations along the flight plan. Since I run ASA on remote I was advised that the order in which I was startingup the programs (FSInn, WideFS, etc.) was incorrect and that I should upgrade to the Beta 355,all of which I did. However I must report the following problems after having checked for anynetwork issues and so on.:When submitting textures prior to FS9 start.Start up sequence, WideFS, ASA, import FP, submit textures, start FS9, Start FSInnOn occasions the weather stations will update and refresh weather (as per report page with Lock to Closest ticked),all along the FP seamlessly. On other occasions it will lock to the Departure airport location or other and stay like thatthroughout, despite manual refreshes. Same situation applies when running ASA as above but without pre-submitting textures (which I was told should work just fine).Questions:Has anybody else running ASA on remote experienced this problem? Is there any way of resetting or forcing the program to restablish contact with FS9 and update accordingly?ASA changes my weather environment and flying experience immensely, when it works for me.Thanks for any inputRegards
  3. He he.... :( Thanks for the replies. I'll follow the PMDG menu option. Clicking on the FMCin VC never worked for me. By the way I continue to have this issue with PMDG aircraft whereby when flying on line and pressing the push-to-talk button Autopilot is disconnected. Check all the assignmentsin FS, PMDG menu but cannot see anything wrong anywhere, I even uninstalled and reinstalledeverything but continue with same problem. Any ideas? Thanks
  4. Is there a key shortcut, or any other way to bring up the FMS while in virtualcockpit without having to use the pull down menus? This is for the 747.Thanks
  5. For some unknown reason everytime I press the Push-to-Talk on my Yoke the autopilotdisengages. It happens with the 747 & 737 series. Never experienced this before andwondered if anyone knows what may be the cause. Trying not to have to reinstalleverything. Thanks and regards
  6. Thanks very much for the replies. Will look into this ASAPRegards
  7. Would like to fly to various bases in Antartica, such as NZIR, NZWD and NISD (Ice Station Delta).Unfortunately the AIRAC database doesn't have. Would appreciate any guidance on how to add them to the PMDG airports database. Thanks & regards
  8. OK, uninstalled all Active Sky products and then reinstalled AS6, ASA Upgrade and ASA Beta update. So far it seems to be working OK and although haven't used it long enough have great hopes it will be OK.Thanks for all the help. It was beginning to get on my nerves.Regards
  9. Sorry but after having scrupulously followed the sequence in the above post I found that yes the weather for the departure airportis shown but after departure ASA is not refreshing the weather from the relevant weather station on the route. Weather remains stuckon departure airport 100+ nm after departure. All registry entries for Network paths are correct and program does not returnany error messages. It simply doesn't update and refresh weather of nearest stations thus not accurately representing weather. Also available Start FS button remains greyed out throughout.Granted graphics are much improved but very disappointed and definitely, from the useability point of view, a step back from AS6.5.Regards
  10. Jim thanks for your reply.Looks as if I was doing everything in reverse order. :( A couple more questions:If doing a VFR flight with no flight plan I imagine it will be same starting sequence minus FP, but willASA still be able to reprodue active weather?Where do I download the SP1 beta for FS9?Regards
  11. Hello JimI bought ASA after officially released. Here is what happens in detail.2 Networked PCs - 1 with FS9 and 1 with ASA, FSInn, etc. - This is how I start:Open FS9 on 1st PC and place aircraft at desired airport, in this case CYZF (Yellowknife)Start FSInn (with FSInn weather disbled) on 2nd PC and connect to VATSIM.Start Wide FS on 2nd PCStart ASA on 2nd PC which then goes through following processes:ASA load commencing...Verifying Active Sky Advanced LicenseFS9 Path Value = \\Fs-master\C\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\FS9 My AppData Path Value = \\Fs-master\C\Documents and Settings\ideoplastic\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\FS9 My Docs Path Value = C:\Documents and Settings\ideoplastic\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\ASA settings have been loaded...Initializing ASAFS station database update not needed (unchanged)...World Magnetic Model has been loaded...Wx Station Database loaded: 10463 station(s)Airports Database loaded...Loading Additional Weather Stations...FSUIPC (version 3.8.5) found and initializedASA controls initialized...ASA v11.0.0.316 Copyright
  12. When I upgraded to ASA from AS6.5 asked in this forum what was the simplest wayto run ASA for VATSIM and was told all I had to do was select VATSIM weather and automatic downloads.Today when at KBOS for flight to EGLL after starting ASA the program was still showing weather for my previousflight even though lock to closest was ticked in the report section. KBOS was heavily overcast with snowbut the sim showed clear sunny skies all the way. Closed down ASA started it again and weather seemed to be correct. However now while flying overthe North Atlantic sim again shows clear skies all the way even though the weather stations on ASAindicate there is plenty of cloud.Guess my question is how can I get ASA to depict correct weather. Never had these problems with AS6.5since it always updated weather and reflected the current METAR.ThanksJoaquin
  13. Please disregard last post - Installed over existing and seems to be working OK. - One more question though. What do I need to do to let ASA automatically recreate the weather? - I've never been great at manipulatingcomplex weather settings. Thanks and regardsJoaquin Blanco
  14. HelloI have just purchased the upgrade version for ASV6.5 for FS9. I have always ran Active sky from a second networked computerand was wondering if I need to uninstall the ASV6.5 before I install ASA upgrade or wether I just go ahead and install ASA over existing. Many thanks.Regards
  15. Treblesum81Sorry I couldn't get back to you last night, but unfortunatelyI got in very late and didn't get a chance to attend to this issue.Glad you managed to get rid of the tiles problem. As regards thehorizon problem I use soft horizon but neumanix's suggestion is alsoa very valid one.Regards
  16. >It's complicated. Has to do with the way FS displays terrain>in LOD steps. It comes in layers to use less resources.>Farther away the engine looks for low resolution mesh. And if>there are LOD's missing and the discrepancy between the higher>resolution mesh in the vicinity of the aircraft and the low>resolutin mesh get's too high then you will get to see those>grey/blue lines. It's the void of the FS World, the nothing,>if you so will.>>To avoid this one has to install low resolution buffer mesh>like this one here.>>http://www.fsgenesis.com/Merchant2/merchan...egory_Code=WRLDI can see your point when we are dealing with terrain, but the problem of grey/blue tiles also happens while flying over the ocean which of course has no mesh associated with it as such. The LOD mesh does make quite a difference to the terrain thoughand if you can afford it, is worth buying it.Fiddling about with the FS9.cfg got rid of these tiles. Will post some settings when I get home this evening.Regards
  17. altstiffThanks for the reply, will do as suggested.Regards
  18. Downloaded quite a few of their packages and there is no doubtthe quality is superb, mainly used for online flying so that FSInncan try and match other players liveries. One thing bothered me alittle bit and that was some memory leaks due to missing textures, granted the amount of memory loss is not huge but wondered what wouldbe the best way to fix the problem when it arises. By the way I use Filemon to track these sort of problems. Any advice appreciated.Regards
  19. Thanks for the replies. As regards wingflex it seems that thePMDG 747 has been fixed. I've tried one of the edits and sofar have not found any errors, mind you testing has not been extensive.Regards
  20. I have installed the lights for the PSS777 & PSS757 asper the user edits in A2A's forum. While the aircrafts are on the ground all looks well, however soon after takeoff I get a duplicate set of red & green nav lights underthe wing tips. I have removed all the PSS fx files from the effects folder. Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has managed to sort out this problem. A2A's forum doesn'tprovide any answers to this issue even though other peoplehave posted about this issue. Thanks & regards
  21. Have installed them as per the user edits in their Forum butalthough everything looks right while on the ground as soon asplane takes off I get a set of duplicate red & and green lights below the wing tips. Not so bad on the 757 but very noticeable on the 777. Has anybody managed to sort this problem? I've lookedin their Forum but couldn't find any solutions.Any help much appreciated.RegardsJoaquin
  22. What is the format for entering these kind of waypoints?Example: 39N 53WestThanksJoaquin Blanco
  23. There is a more extensive and more up-to-date photoreal sceneryof Naples and surrounding regions created by Fulvio Mazzokan.Search for these files here in the AVSIM library and install them all.You can still retain Napulevuola LIRN scenery. All works very well. You will also need to download any good mesh for southern Italy.italy_campania_1_caserta.zipitaly_campania_2_napoli.zipitaly_campania_3_sansevero.zipitaly_campania_4_benevento.zipitaly_campania_5_melfi.zipitaly_campania_6_palinuro.zipRegards
