  1. Ok Bryan Thanks.. I was amazed by that video, I thought I was watching an actual MD-80 flight!! I have some work to do to get to that level yet. Been trying to upgrade the Dog, get wide view working with four monitors and keep the Wife happy while we are home on vacation. (Whew...) I just updated to 2010 Pro, any reason not to instal the crew yet? Or should I hold off until you release a patch to the patch??Mike B.
  2. Wow! Great videos. I have both FS2crew and the 2010 Pro Dog but I heard a LOT more stuff in your video! Gotta figure out what I am not doing to get stuff like "hello Captain" and F/A announcments etc.Mike B.
  3. Hi Bryan and crew. Just a quick note about SP1. I just installed a new hard drive and have a clean installation of EVERYTHING. Installed SP1 and just ran through the checklists on the ground with the aircraft A/C running in the background and was very sucessful in the checklists I could get him to him to do on the ground. I think the SP1 has greatly improved the recognition for me at least. Haven't had the time to try a flight as yet but will shortly. Thanks guys, well done... Mike B.
  4. Good deal. I have about 10 minutes in the left seat of a DC10-30! lol.. A friend of mine in California was a left seater on DC-10's and promised me he would take me on a ferry flight one day. Turns out this particular DC-10 made a milk run daily from PHNL to KSFO . One Wed of each week as soon as the folks were off the plane it would hustle down to LAX for maint. He got the assignment and called me up and said it was a go. All four of use flew up to SFO on a commerical (United I think it was) then waited for the -30 to arrive. When we departed there was nobody else on the plane, the flight crew and me! Wow, what a thrill. I was in the jump seat on take off from SFO with no pax, no cargo and bare minimum fuel. I could not believe the acceleratrion on take off as my buddy gave it a "little" extra gas on take off. I told him later I was really impressed and he told me it had a LOT more left to give but he needed to behave lest the company get wind of it. Lol. Enroute to lax at altitude he let me in the left seat for a bit. I was amazed at how tight the cockpit was. I am sure there is a technique to getting into the seat but I didn't know what it was. lol. I'm 6'2", 235 pounds and I got hung up about 3/4 of the way into the seat! Not pretty. Got in eventually.. On landing at about 1:00am he asked the tower for a change in runways so as to be closer to the maint facility and since no traffic was behinds us he floated way down the runway kicking the rudder back and forth and telling me this thing just loves to keep flying!! Very impressive airplane. What's your position on the DC10?Mike B.
  5. Nope. It implied the in the air the FO could only set the heading, airspeed etc when the AP was off. Bryan says you can do it with or without the AP engaged. I wanted the capability to tell the FO to turn to a heading when ATC directed me to and not have to fool with the mouse. The FO could actually HELP me during an approach. Lol..Mike B.
  6. Everyone completely missed the point of my post, guess I didn't explain my self very well. I know how to fly the aircraft and I have approx 1,000 real world hours in fixed wing and rotorcraft. My point was that the FS2Crew manual made it sound like it was ONLY possible to have the FO set the heading etc when the AP was off. Bryan straightened the misunderstanding out by telling me the FO can and will set those items EVEN if the AP is on or off. I understand fully about cockpit workload.Thanks. Mike B.
  7. "But, nothing is set in stone, so if you want you can still command the FO/PNF to set the autopilot even when the autopilot is on."Oooooh!. Will the FO change the heading then and the autopilot will move to the new heading?? I hadn't tried it with the AP actually on. Dooh... I assumed (there's that word again) that when ther manual stated the AP is off the FO commanded the heading select know and you HAD to do it that way. If the AP is on and I ask for a heading and he/she actually does it then that's super! It is a real pain when flying online and ATC turns you and you have to mouse the heading before I can answer them. If I can hand off that job to the lowly FO, great! Thanks. Mike B.
  8. That's it, sets up the flight director?? Why are we paying the FO then? I don't need the FD to manually fly a heading. lol.. oh well...Mike B.
  9. Cyril: In your approach video are you hand flying the airplane or is the autopilot on?? I hear you asking for headings and the FO is responding. If you are hand flying (autopilot off) what is the point of asking the FO for a heading??MIke B.
  10. It has to do with the autopilot useage. If I am flying and the autopilot is off what is the point of asking for a heading to be set by the FO?? If the autopilot is on why can't I tell the FO to set a heading?? Seems just backwards to me. AM I missing something??Heading select only works if the autopilot is on??Mike B.
  11. Really? :( We can't seem to get through to developers that to run FSX that a virutally new computer system is required. In my case I have close to $10,000 invested in hardware and software to run flight sim. I run 4 monitors, three video cards, external flight sim hardware and some pretty heavy duty software add-ons. I have FSX, I loaded it and removed it. It just kills my frame rates making it completely unuseable for my system. I checked with my local computer store owner/friend and I can't use hardly any of the hardware I have, not even the case!! (power supply is way too small). To run FSX is not like in the past flight sim updates where a little more RAM or a new video card will do the trick, you need a MAJOR upgrade to run FSX.Nope, it's gonna be FS9 for some time for me..Mike B.
  12. Now you're talking Bryan. Thank the man for his efforts.. Will be going to the laminating shop this AM to make it "pretty". Now... if you could just download a really cute French flight attendant to fetch me a cold brew during the Supper Bowl today life would be grand!! :( Mike B.
  13. I'm not Bryan, but he elected to make it voice only due to some issues with MadDog itself..Mike B.
  14. Wow, this is great.. Been playing with the Crew for MD. Having a ball. You sure do need to print out the checklists though. I sent the wife off to get more ink and paper for the printer.. Bryan, did you ever consider making a PDF file for a checklist that we can laminate (About the size of the real world checklists) with the different lists and responses on it??One note. Just like the 737 Fs2Crew, I tried to use it right after installation and it just hung up the computer. Rebooted the machine and it then worked just fine. I also had to turn way down the ambient cockpit sounds as it seemed to bother the FO. And what's with this snippy FO giving me the business if I call for something quicker that he likes?? :( lol...Great product. By the way, I highly reccomend running through all the checklists on the ground to get a feel for the program. Been through it several times so far and it gets better each time as the FO "schools" me on how to be a Captain!!What are we supposed to do with items that are in yellow on the control panel?? (Admittedly I haven't printed the manual yet so I may have missed it reading the manual on screen).Well done Laddy..Mike B.
  15. Bryan: Problem solved. Third time was the charm. Got the file. Just got back from the store and will now go install it on my FS computer.. ThanksMike B.
  16. Great news Bryan, only one problem. The web site seems to have a problem. I get to step 2 "use existing address" and just hangs and eventually give "an error occured, try again". Bummer.. :( Mike B.
  17. I'm not sure why you're giving me a hard time, at the time I posted this TC hadn't clarified your first post. The review was indeed a great one and made the 757 sound good enough that I was CONSIDERING buying it again IF it was indeed 4.3 for FS9 also. After the review I re-installed the FS9 2.1 version just to see if I missed something somewhere and I hadn't, uninstalled it again never to again clutter my hard drive.. Mike B.
  18. You completely ignored the first post regarding the FS9 version stuff. That's what I want to know also. If the FS9 version is still the 2.1 version it's a piece of incomplete crap whaich is full of bugs, and at nearly $100, dollars spent I couldn't reccomend CS stuff to ANYONE..Mike B. AAL 244
  19. Ok thanks Ian. Guess I'll just suck it up and do the over night thing. Anyidea how big the download is?? Mike B.
  20. I want to buy the 757. Got a question. I have a VERY slow dial up connection. Flight1 products are downloaded first then enabled online. There is a computer store in town that will fill a CD for $5.00 with anything you down load. Can PSS products be downloaded on one computer and transferred to another to "unlock" and use?? Downloading on my FS computer will take many, many hours to download.. Thanks. Mike B.
  21. Seeing as the other two "big" add-on guys are now abandoning the FS9 folks with their 757 products, that pretty much leaves PSS to supply us "po" folks that can't afford a $3000.00 computer to run FSX. After the release of your 757 there appeared to be lots of bugs in the product. I have been checking back fron time to time to see if the problems are being addressed. Are they? If so when can we expect the "patch" to clean up the majority of issues with the plane?? I am hot to get a high quality 757 but the usual suspects have left us FS9 folks twisting in the breeze. Y O U wouldn't do that to us, would you?? Waiting for a GOOD 757.. Mike B.
  22. I just completed my first flight with the new SB and it works great!!! Used it with level D sim 767 and they play together perfectly.I have a really crappy dialup connection and I can't believe how well the voice works. never heard even a single burp for the whole flight! I use the PFC jetLiner console and I L O V E dialing up the facility frequency and have it switch! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Been off line for 2 years waiting for the system to be updated.. Gota join another virtual airline again. (American Virtual, you hiring??)Thrilled in North Carolina... Mike B.
  23. I use the freeware Download Accelerator Plus 5.0 (DAP 5.0) with a 34K connection and I got the upgrade no problem.. Mike B.
  24. Bingo Brendon. You hit the nail on the head. The MAP control will affect the "growl" of the engine but not the pitch unless you pull it WAY back. The original R4D (freeware version 4.X I think) had it nailed but with each "upgrade" the sound degraded to the point where it is today. I have a six lever throttle (PFC Jetliner console) and it sure is disapointing to pull back the prop control and the only thing that changes is the RPM, no sound changes. I went so far as to BUY FsSound Studio so I could "fix" this myself BUT I found that using the test mode in sound studio the prop controls affect the sound as they should ! I'm stumped now as I don't have a clue how the config files work with the flight model so I don't know what to tweak. I have asked several times about this but have never gotten a response. If someone has Mike Hambly's E-mail address I'll start some dialouge with him on how all this works. Speaking of this problem in general terms (not just MAAM's) I can only conclude that the folks that create these sounds (how they interact, not the quality) are either 1. Not real world pilots or 2. are real pilots but don't have any complex aircraft experience. (Complex A/C being one with constant speed props and/or retractable gear) To be fair to the developers, it may not be possible to control the pitch of the engine sounds with the RPM controls?? I dunno. Inspite of the engine/prop sounds I still love the B25 and R4D/DC3.. No sour grapes here Bill... Mike B.
