  1. Does it? :)This was actually a test if engine strike is simulated in FS9, apparently it's not. The plane was moving nicely just as if the engine was cutting the grass. The only thing missing was the dirt coming out from the engine.
  2. Hi all!For the past three months, I'vee been flying my NG around the world, and now I'm finally back at home! It took me three months to complete since my work and other things don't leave me too much time for flying. Here's the whole route:Helsinki - LondonLondon - New YorkNew York - AtlantaAtlanta - DallasDallas - DenverDenver - Las VegasLas Vegas - Los AngelesLos Angeles - HonoluluHonolulu - HiloHilo - Johnston IslandJohnston Island - BrisbaneBrisbane - SingaporeSingapore - BangkokBangkok - DubaiDubai - AmsterdamAmsterdam - HelsinkiAfter all this flying all I can say is that I love this plane and PMDG, you've done a great job!P.S I also made my personal speed record en-route Amsterdam - Helsinki, where my GS went up to 520kts! There was a 90kt tailwind. What a jetstream!
  3. I've figured out a more fun and exicting way to mow the lawn. I can't guarantee it will be neat but if you're bored with regular lawn mowing then you should probably try it out. :) (See the attachment)Surprisingly the plane didn't crash during this "operation"
  4. Interesting, I've always thought ACARS is a satellite based communications system. Thanks for clearing this up.
  5. Does the gear work as in the real plane now? So it can be set to "off" position during flight? Btw, does anyone know what's the purpose of the "off" position?
  6. Looking good! The new radio altimeter is a nice upgrade!
  7. I've noticed that instead of maintaining a magnetic heading, the 737NG tracks it! I wonder if pilots can override the track mode some way, since heading given by ATC are normally not meant to be wind-compenstated.
  8. Hi!Is there any plans on making some of the ACARS functions availaible in SU2? Especially the weather forecast for the ARR airport would be great, since VNAV PTH descent requires the runway to be selected, and the T/D is normally beyond the FS9 ATIS range.Regards,
  9. Have you tried re-installing? Maybe you're missing the gauge file for the FMC. Did you try the brightness control?

    High pitch

Thanks Randy,No, I did not engage VNAV or any other pitch mode, because I was still under the VNAV engagement alt. However, when I engaged VNAV the problem went away, so I think it was the LVL CHG that caused it.Actually I had just retracted the flaps but my speed was just a little over 200kts. Maybe that was the problem then but it still was an agressive pitch-up.Btw, wouldn't it be better if no pitch mode would engage until the pilot selects it from the MCP? I wonder why Boeing ended up doing it this way, though I'm sure they had their reasons.

    High pitch

Oops sorry :) It is supposed to read A/P, A/T was armed before takeoff.

    High pitch

Can anyone at least tell me if this is a known issue or if this has been discussed before? Or am I alone with this problem?
  13. Yeah I hate it when FS9 expects it is US transition everywhere. Also it would be nice to hear different accents over different continents. ;)
  14. Hello!Searched the forum for this subject but didn't find anything, so I decided to start a new thread.A few minutes after takeoff last night, I engaged the autopilot and the plane suddenly pitched up (very rapidly) to about 20 degrees. I couldn't control the pitch until I engaged VNAV which solved the problem.I had set up all LNAV and VNAV information correctly, armed the A/T and engaged FD before takeoff, my MCP SPD was set to V2 + 7 and I used 22k derated takeoff thrust.I don't see a reason why this happened since I only engaged the A/T, not any pitch mode.Regards,
  15. If I'm not wrong, the hilowchime is actually a cabin signal, used often to tell cabin crew that takeoff or landing is happening soon and crew should get seated and fasten their belts. Anyone know where this switch should be?
  16. Seems like you were actually flying 737-700 Orbiter. :)Good luck flying the re-entry! ;)

    Weights

Hi!Since PMDG adds the weights to the PERF INIT page automatically, I was wondering if it's possible to do this in real life? Or do you have to know your ZFW and then the FMC calculates the GW from there automatically?

    Flare Height

Yeah I've found it a lot better to flare the way you described it. :)Actually, I was flying with Sabena a few years back from Helsinki to Brussels. During landing, as we crossed the runway threshold at about 50 feet, the plane still continued at the same descent rate, and I already assumed we're gonna hit the pavement hard :) until just a few feet above the runway the captain (female) cut the throttles and rapidly flared the plane, and I really felt that flare! The landing was just about perfect, and I've never seen such a perfect "late" flare again.Btw, I assume Ian really made a bad landing... even the winglets of his plane are pointing down booing for him. ;)

    Flare Height

I just tried out flaring at 15ft AGL today while doing a full ILS approach. I ended up slamming to the runway quite hard and had a bounce. :) Nothing broke but still a hard landing. So, either there's not enough ground effect in FS or then you really shouldn't count on numbers, but visual reference instead, like I've done before.
  20. Hello! This could be caused by the lack of display memory on your card.

    IFE switch

Thanks for the answers everyone! To be honest, I haven't flown too much with the new 737s, because most of the airlines here operate the A320 series on their short and medium-haul flights. Most of them have the similar overhead LCD system that folds up, but I've seen the motors get stuck sometimes so they don't always fold open in such a unison you were talking about. :)Passenger seem to require much higher standards these days. When I was a kid (which isn't too long ago) there were absolutely no entertainment on a 3 hour flight other than the inflight magazine, and for kids to visit the flight deck. (When it was still allowed)Ian, it's good to have your knowledge here! I was a frequent visitor in the PS1 forum a few years back. Cheers! :)
  22. Hi!I was wondering if there really is any airline that has an inflight entertainment system onboard the 737? I've never seen it in 737, only in Airbuses or bigger Boeings.
