  1. Well one lovely idea would be to have a sort of ACARS server interface, so that Virtual Airlines or online networks could create software pieces to load flight plans or clearances... THAT would be lovely... As for the rest i believe PMDG will do all they can at their usual (which means higher than before :( ) standard Keep on the great work.
  2. in the title of your thread you talk about MD11... the MD11 is for FSX only (the FS9 version still has to be released...) as for the otherrs i never had problemsa installing the 737 with all it's aptches and then the 747 with it's patches.
  3. downloading :D :D :D Thank you PMDG. PS: Really, is somebody complaining for the price? at 59.99
  4. Well, the AFO will have to do :) Thanks, Luca
  5. Hello all :) I suppose i missed some piece of info in the previews... or in the docs... I can't find the ABL version which i really like din FS9 in the FSX 747.... hasn't it been ported over? :(But still, the 747 is a lovely aircraft in every version :) Thanks for any info and a Happy Holiday season to all, Luca
  6. nice, learned something new :) Thanks, and sorry for the possibly misleading post. Luca
  7. if i remember right you have to have an alpha channel, fill it white and see if the reflections go away... (or was it black? :D ) hope it helps. luca
  8. I checked with a friend who's aircraft mechanic... To make the story short the brake "discs" always work a little bit... at least they are in contact with the brake pads and so a litle friction always occurs. this is true for all bigger aircrafts. so it's not a boeing typical behaiour. Any mechanic wanting to jump in to correct or expand is welcome as i may very well have misunderstood the details :) Luca
  9. Thanks Jon, so possibly they do heat up "normally" during taxi... I don't know how carbon behaves as far as the insulation of the inner part is concerned... but on racing bikes if you want to use carbon brakes you have to "keep them warm" as carbon brakes work better at higher temperatures than the usual alloy discs which need to be cooled. And on the manual of the PMDG it is recommended not to "pump" on the brakes but to use them steadily as this helps the cooling process.. I think there's something in how the brakes assemblies are built which we are missing... i'll try to ask a friend who works as a mechanic and see if he has an answer to this :) Not sure if this may help anybody to understand something more. :) Luca
  10. Not sure how it influences the cooling process (i'd need to take my physics book back out of the library of the forgotten books) i just thought that an even small air flux would be better than the convective effect of the brakes heating the air...I suppose they made their tests and have seen it doesn't do enough... :) Thanks, LucaPS: Please, can we stop trying to bash each other at every word which is spoken? doesn't make sense... if you all need to post as a reaction, write your post and save it in notepad, get a walk, and then read the post which enraged you again.. possibly you'll notice people don't always have something personal against YOU.
  11. Jumping in on this one.... it has been said the boing manuals say "don't use parking brake, don't taxi, don't get near the wheels for an hour". Wouldn't a taxi around (without using brakes) actually help the cooling process if the brakes are too hot? or do the brake pads always "work" a little bit anyway? Thanks, Luca
  12. Together with the "air cond" master warning light you have an "OFF SCHED DESCENT" light on the overhead panel. In the real plane you should see that, and on the virtual aircraft you should anyway scan all your panel for warning lights :) Luca
  13. 744 in Linate? a bit too big i'd say... :) Not a solution but i'll still mention it, for nice italian freeware sceneries check www.isdproject.comLuca

    Hello...

is the offsched descent light illuminated? if yes you need to set the cruise altitude before takeoff... and.. it's on the manual... :) Luca
  15. I'd say our flight into EDDB yesterday afternoon with a couple of cargos full of pizza has been lucky :D Thanks for the great liveries. :) Luca
  16. i had a look at the video.. could it be you bounced a bit on landing? I suppose the wing flex effect in the PMDG 747 is partially simulated by "sensing" ground contact... so if you bounced it could explain this effect. Luca

I'll bump a thread from over a year ago... While flying today in my 737 700 with a particular eye on fuel economy i noticed some strangeness... Starting the flight on CI 1 i had an arrival fuel level of 3.0 in the PROG page (yes i know it's low got strong headwinds...and 2 more hrs flight to go) switching to a higher CI gave me a higher speed and more fuel on arrival :| Am i missing something here or is this wrong? I then made a small test with a short flight (identical setup same route) flown once at CI 1 and once at CI 100 trying to keep them as similar as possible... fuel consumpiton in the end was absloutely identical (to the 10 lbs...) I have the PMDG 600-700 and upgraded to 800-900 with model update... Any insight as to the absolute fuel economy on the PMDG 737 700 in FS is welcome :) Luca
  18. A small precisation, when you are using autobrakes you are most probably using the brakes, only brake pressure is applied automatically to obtain a determined deceleration value (so using spoilers and Reverse reduces the pressure applied to the brakes). Luca
  19. personally i don't see a problem in continuing on 3 engines.. what i think should be criticised is the decision to first dump a a part of the fuel (it should be considered if this has really been done..) but mostly: "the BA 747 flightcrew was unable to determine how to properly crossfeed fuel with the shutdown engine scenario and declared a fuel emergency" How can it be that they don't know how to crossfeed properly? I very well hope there's something written the wrong way by the media... should this one be the real situation i would really be scared. And maintanace did something wrong too if they had the same problem again... Luca
  20. made a speed check and got over 500kbps.. i must be routed through some antarctic ISDN link at the moment... :DThanks for your assistance. Luca
  21. Possibly i'm the only one with this problem not sure. Just bought the 744F after waiting for the weekend rush to pass. i'm downloading at less than 10Kbps... do others have the same problem? @PMDG: Wouldn't it be possible to create some sort of download aaplication based on bittorrent? this would dramatically reduce the load on the main download server... Thanks, Luca
  22. this is a NICE way to spend my lunch break.. :D Thanks, Luca
  23. nice links... here's the bird strike test: http://100.rolls-royce.com/facts/view.jsp?id=215Luca
