  1. Thanks for the reply! I thought what you described is what was happening. Your explanation though, made it easier to understand. I think what messed me up in my thinking was that I usually only mess with the alpha in the light bmp's to correct night lighting issues, and just didn't fully understand how alphas worked in relation to reflectivity.Again, thanksRick
  2. Thanks!I found out what was going on. The problem was with all the authors paints, but was showing up up only 2. On the Wilco "house" paints, and other painters textures, the alpha channel was a light grey, and in spots varying shades of grey. But in the problem repaints, the alpha was white with outlines in solid black. These were the areas that showing up as reflective. I simply loaded the correct alphas into the editor, then replaced & resaved with the wrong alphas, and all is good now.I wish I could understand this better....maybe with time & rereading.Could you explain though, why did the black cause all the problems. Was it the just the black, or was it a combination of the black and the alpha having a solid white background? Thanks!Rick
  3. Have the Wilco Airbus and have d/l'd textures for it, several by the same person. All are great, but on 2, I noticed a problem. One was the A319 Northwest paint. The large nwa on the fuselage should be black, but on my a/c, it was shiny/chrome-like. The same went for the US Airways - Arizona Cardinals repaint (the cardinal's face was shiny). Something made me try and untick the aircraft reflection box in FS, and a/c were ok now. From doing some reading here, I'll assume this has something to do with the Alpha channel. This person's other repaints were not like this, and on these only the areas I mentioned were affected. I would like to fix these myself. I have DXTbmp. Could some of you experienced painters point me in the right direction, as to what to look for in the textures and/or alphas for the areas affected. Thanks!Rick
  4. It never fails, the minute you want to go to a support forum and search for help, the forums appear to be down. I hope this is just a temp thing and nothing major!!Rick
  5. I have seen photos of passengers unloading from a/c and walking to the terminal. Is there a program that does this, or is it just a set of bmp's? The pics I've seen, look like its made for specific a/c, because they are placed correctly walking down the airstairs.Rick
  6. Since FFS folded (I should say took the money and ran), are the liveries available anywhere, or did they vanish too?Rick
  7. I thought I read on one of their news releases, where UPS retro'd their 727's with these engines for fuel eff. and quietness. Actually there is another web site that shows all their 27's have been updated. http://www.freightersonline.com/fleet.aspx?a=u&s=aAs for using an engine sound, I was looking for a custom sound (from the many in the library), that would come close to this engine. Does this engine have the typical RR sound, or is it different?Rick
  8. Does anyone have an idea of what the RR TAY engined aircraft sound like. There are no sound files I am aware of, but was looking for a suggestion of something that is close to them.ThanksRick
  9. The taxi instructions are what I really miss using Radar Contact 4. It just says taxi to the ramp, or Gate??, if you put in a specific gate #. But I would not want to give up the flying instructions given by RC4, and go back to FS9's ATC. I guess you can't have everything......but who knows, maybe someday!Rick
  10. Let's all give Bob a standing ovation!!!!:-beerchug :-beerchug , or buy him a beer! I am glad there are developers not abandoning FS9 for FSX.If anyone cares, see my post on the PMDG forum --"Why not FS9, page 13". This is only my opinion on why I will be with FS9 for a long time, and am satisfied and content with my decision. Thanks Bob, really enjoy the TM2, and salute you for the effort!Rick
  11. The main problem I've found was with the EHSI. I found if I substituted another one, the CTD's stopped. I finally settled for Reality XP's JL2 set, and I have never had another problem, even with the lighting, everything works perfectly.Hope this helps!Rick
  12. At this point, it is far cheaper to purchase the cd from another source, than to buy direct from PMDG. They simply changed all the $ signs to euros (boy wasn't that easy)! A very solid business decision (being sarcastic)! And the developers wonder why their products get distributed illegally at times. A very good motto to follow, both in life & in business, "treat people/customers, the way you want to be treated!"I wish I could raise my rates 30%, but I wouldn't have any customers left, if I did.Rickps: Did G. Bush have a hand in this???? He must have a hand out in software development, as he does in the petroleum market.
  13. I have been using Mark Poole's Nav Light effects for awhile, but have always noticed this. If you are behind the a/c and there is a white nav light centered on the tail cone, it will always cast illumination to the left side of the tail. (right side is ok) Same goes for the red nav light. It tends to illuminate the wingtip with a white cast, which also shows up during the day, depending on the color of the a/c. The green appears alright, but if logic dicates, it is also probably casting a illuminating effect, but would be inside of the wing, and not visible. So basicly, they are great effects (better than standard), but seem to give off an illuminating effect to one side. The textures for these look ok. Opening up the fx file, there are 4 pages of properties. Can any of these cause what I am trying to explain? IS there someplace to get info on what these parameters are and what they do?Rick
  14. I have noticed on their recent release KLGA, and also on KCLT, that none of the AFCAD's they provide, show the animated gates. While this keeps unwanted AI from parking there, it also keeps you from starting there. (I think) Is there any way to start there, or does the AFCAD have to be corrected? Some of their other a/p's, I have updated AFCAD's from others, and am not sure if the problem existed there also.Rick
  15. Anyone know what happened to the Dreamwings website?Rick
  16. Unfortunately, that is for the KH model, my textures are for the older FFX model, which has approx. 28 bmp's in it. But thanks anyway!Rick
  17. Actually I did it and it seems to work fine. Had to fine tune the contact points, and changed the lights around to match the model and added to make them like the others. The only I remembered I never liked about that model was, that it was intially designed for FS2002, and the taxi light doesn't show up using the 2d panel. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.Rick
  18. Bob, thanks for the reply. I know that the textures woun't fit the new model. My question was, if I use the old model & textures with the new KH .air file & a/c cfg, then modify the lights, contact points, etc, will that work with the panel?Rick
  19. Will the KH files work with the earlier 737-200 model? Not sure if it was the one for FS2002 updated for2004? It has approx. 30-some bmp's in its texture folder. The only repaint of a UPS -200 was this one. If I just substitute the model & texture, and alter the a/c cfg for lights, contact points, and possibly flaps, will this work ok?Or does anyone know where to get a UPS repaint? Thanks!Rick
  20. Is there a callsign for Ameriflight?Thanks!Rick
  21. mms://70.85.182.98/airsidetv/airnzb737flight.wmvRick
  22. I'm still not finding the AFCAD's for individual airports!!Rick
  23. I explored the new site, but I don't see all the old AFCAD's listed anywhere. Did they not carry them over, or did I miss something?ThanksRick
  24. I have d/l'ed this updated scenery, along with a few others. Everything seems to work ok, except for the terminal buildings at KSYR.I believe I have all the EZ Scenery & RWY12 libraries installed. Can anyone let me know what scenery library is being used for the KSYR terminals? Thanks!Rick
