  1. The problem I think is with the video drivers. NVIDIA only has one current driver for Windows 10: 353.30. Hopefully NVIDIA will fix the problem in future updates. J.R.
  2. After two Windows 10 upgrades...went back to my Windows 7 configuration, In my original upgrade all was working until I found out that I didn't have permission to install anything into the addon scenery, or just add scenery to FS9. The problem was fixed after the second upgrade...and that's when i found out that Active Sky wasn't working correctly. Reinstalled the program, and it got more of a fiasco. FS9 works great on Windows 7, I have better frame rates...so going to stay with this until the bitter end of Windows 7 life. Thanks to all who gave me help, and I hope I was helpful to anybody on other threads. Take Care/Happy Flying J.R.
  3. Looks like everything is working as it should...including Active Sky. Nevermind!!! I can run it in window mode, but not full screen. This is starting to suck. Fixed the problem that I had with the first upgrade, now I have problems with active sky after a second upgrade (and it was working in the first upgrade). It's 7:17am...I'm sure it's happy hour somewhere. Take Care/Cheers J.R.
  4. I think the problem is fixed. I changed one thing in the configuration (random), and restarted the program. Changed the configuration back to what it was...seems like it's working. However Sluggy if you can still pass on your settings...I would greatly appreciate it. J.R.
  5. Active Sky 6.X locking up FS9 in full screen mode when going to Window Mode Alt + Enter.. What GPU are you using, and if it's an NVIDIA what are your graphic settings within the control panel, and are you running full screen, or window??? Thanks J.R.
  6. Just upgraded back to Windows 10...FS9 running with still the obvious errors most likely from the NVIDIA drivers. However, I use Active Sky, and right now I can't seem to get that to work with FS9 in full window mode. Going to reinstall, and see what happens. Everything else seems to be running perfectly (Flight Deck Companion, and Ultimate Traffic). I'll post back after reloading Active Sky. J.R.
  7. Upgraded back to Windows 10...FS9 working except for the obvious errors most likely caused by NVIDIA drivers. No setting have changed...just upgraded. I full control of the computer as I did in Windows 7. J.R.
  8. MY problem just happened after I upgraded to Windows 10. I could not get new scenery to install...I didn't have Admin Privileges. I have zero security inconsistencies in Windows 7...I have full Admin control., and zero problems in FS9. J.R.
  9. Greetings, I posted this on another topic...just to let people know. Just found this out last night...thought it was a fluke. Tried to install new scenery into FS9, and received the following error: You do not have permission to install new files on this computer. Please have an administrator log on to complete the scenery installation. I have full Administrative rights, UAC turned off, and made another account that is Admin, and performed a full takeown in cmd.exe. Has anybody experienced this problem??? This is a bad thing, and I'm ready to go back to Windows 7 in a heartbeat...don't need the hastle from Microsoft. Dealt with them for too many years, and just to think everything was working so well. Good thing to find out now prior to the end of the 30 day free trial of Windows 10. Went back to Windows 7 about two hours ago...all is working!!! Take Care J.R.
  10. Greetings, Went back to Windows 7 using Macrium Reflect. All is working!!! However, I may try to upgrade again to Windows 10 to see if I get the same error, or something different. I'll let ya know how it goes. Take Care/Happy Flying J.R.
  11. Just like other simmers...going back to Windows 7 in the morning. Not just because of this problem, but i get better frame rates off of Windows 7 than I do on Windows 10...that's a major plus for me right there. If it ain't broke...don't fix it!!! Take Care J.R.
  12. Greetings again, I can install afcads/scenery into my addon scenery folder. However, any scenery that is installed in another place I can not manually put it into the scenery configuration. I can add textures from FSGenesis, and install programs (Ultimate traffic) without any problems (that's very good). Don't think I will be installing much scenery in the future...but just in case if I have to...i might be out of luck. Going back to my Scotch, and think some more about this. if anybody has any ideas...much appreciated. Take Care J.R.
  13. Have it on a second hard drive...with all permissions!!! Going to work on it later on tonight, and try a few more things. Right now it's time for a Scotch, and relax. Thanks for the Support J.R.
  14. Reinstalled the other day. I have complete system backups from when I first installed Windows 10 (Macrium Reflect)...going to try a few other things before doing that. I really don't care if I go back to Windows 7, but I want to figure out exactly what is going on with this problem...because I've never seen it before. Take Care J.R.
  15. Greetings again, Just got done chatting with Microsoft...told them the problem, and their response was "Don't see Flight Simulator 2004 supported in Windows 10". The person then gave me the link to the Microsoft Flight Simulator support forum, but it looks like it's all for FSX. Going to give this a few days, and attempt to fix this problem...if not Windows 7 it is. Not a Happy Camper J.R.

  17. Have to totally agree. Been using Macrium Reflect on my rig, and wife's laptop for many years...no problems what so ever. Macrium Reflect free version is great, as it does everything that the paid version does...minus a few it would be nice to have options. Using the free version on my media center computer, have the paid version on my rig, and wife's laptop. Going back to the Macrium Reflect...not only does it clone/image hard drives/partitions (Full/Differential/Incremental)...it also gives you chance to schedule backups. Hope that this helped. Take Care J.R.
  18. 19. Wow, Really sorry it didn't work out for you. I'll be honest...I have never upgraded any computer until all of the kinks are worked out (usually around one year later). However, with Windows 10...I'm pretty much happy that everything worked out for me (first time ever). Still not happy with FS9 having a max frame rate of 60 on my computer...but it's still very smooth. As Windows 10 get more developed, and Nvidia upgrades drivers I'm sure in time a Windows 10 upgrade will go smoothly for you. Windows 7 is still being supported by MS until 2022...so by then there might be another operating system out. When that happens we'll be starting another thread with all kinds of new problems...lol!!! Take Care J.R.
  20. ( I have FS9 installed on a second hard drive with all my other programs. When I installed in on Windows 7 was getting exactly what you are getting...Win 7 asking for Administrator privileges (even with UAC turned off)...turned out to be a real pain. If you can install on second hard drive I would recommend doing so. If you don't have the option...try partitioning your hard drive. I had another fluke that I found out about. When I upgraded to Windows 10 the registry lost where FS9 was installed. Renamed Flight Simulator Folder, and did a compact/custom install. Deleted folder, and renamed original folder back to what it was. Speaking of bugs...I was able to switch from FS9 (full screen) to the desktop using Alt + tab, and Windows key without any problems...don't how that happened...didn't change any settings. However, when I exited FS9, and restarted...no can do. Had to Alt + Enter to get back to the desktop...Alt + Tab, Windows key would not work. These are the early stages, and I'm sure Microsoft, and Nvidia are working out the bugs. Until then, hopefully everyone is haing a smooth transition to Windows 10. Happy Flying J.R.
  21. This subject was about FS9 running on Windows 10...not just about Windows 10. This thread has gotten overloaded with crap...I don't think the people who wanted answers are going to get them. So can we go stick to the subject...please!!! Thank You & Take Care J.R.
  22. Just realized that when you select an aircraft in the menu...you don't get a preview (picture) of it.
  23. I just tried, and I didn't have any problems accessing menus via mouse, or shortcuts via keyboard.
  24. Greetings again, Tried to upgrade the NVIDIA drivers...looks like 353.30 is the only one available for Windows 10. Did more adjusting with the NVIDIA settings, and I still can't get above 60 fps....so the problem lies with either the NVIDIA drivers, or Windows 10 itself. However, if you have an older rig, and are experiencing low frame rates already you may want to wait before upgrading to Windows 10...they could be even lower. Again, hopefully more people will give more insight with their experience with FS9 on Windows 10. Take Care J.R. Duda
