  1. From the Duke autopilot manual
  2. Unless you're using some high resolution textures for clouds or something like that, there's no point in changing it.
  3. Check out Mountain Air. We have scheduled flights, but it is also permissible to create your own routes with your own planes and log them as "Charter." We have a European hub. Mountain Air
  4. There is another scenery add-on that often doesn't get mentioned, but I have found it to be really valuable in the Caribbean, and that is the Scenery Tech North American Landclass. It is inexpensive -- $18. It covers North America all the way up to Alaska and down through the whole of the Caribbean. It plays nice with other scenery add-ons. The great strength of the Scenery Tech stuff is that it puts villages, farms, factories, churches, and other structures out in those places where other scenery packages don't go. It also improves the terrain, making it more realistic. I was flying Puerto Rico last night and I was really impressed with how it enhanced the outlying areas. I have their North America, Africa and Asia landclass packages, and I have really been delighted with the effect.
  5. I had a feeling you would answer that way, and I believe that I understand what you mean. I do think that it could be updated to install for FSX without a complete re-make, but I am also aware that there are other considerations. I do hope that at some point your design team will revisit this question. I think you could increase your sales on this great product with an update. I wouldn't buy the plane for a long time until I talked with a fellow VA pilot who had done the FSX install, and knew that it worked.
  6. So, why not make these small modifications and re-issue the plane for FSX with an FSX installer? It's a really great plane and very attractively priced.
  7. Have you checked with PMDG to see what they say about this, like will the installer run without FS9 installed, or is there some other option? I would test it myself, but I have FS9 on the computers that I would be able to test it on.
  8. Actually, it didn't even install properly in FS9. Their installer for this plane is messed up. I can name a bunch of planes that the installer will successfully install to either FS9 or FSX. They could do the same with this plane. There is really no problem with it in FSX. I'm flying it right now in FSX and it's great. All they would have to do is update the installer.
  9. I just did it, but I do have FS9 installed. The PMDG installer didn't put the files in the right place, even for FS9. I went ahead and ran it, found the place where the files had been put, and manually installed them into FS9 and FSX. I really don't see why PMDG doesn't update the installer on this great airplane. It seems kind of stupid to me. It runs fine in FSX. Why put their customers through these contortions?
  10. Sorry, but I'm going to disagree here. If he got a good 1 Gig video card, the performance improvement would be amazing, and it would be a lot less hassle and expense than replacing the motherboard and doing the over-clocking.
  11. In a word, yes. The duos and quads are a massive improvement even if their clock speed doesn't look all that much different from the single core system. And, to second what others have said, a good video card really helps too, the more memory, the better.
  12. Sorry. That was kind of snotty of me. There was something about your demanding tone of "delete this tweak it's a piece of junk..." when it had worked very well for me and lots of other folks that hit me the wrong way.
  13. A second on the Twin Otter. Wonderful plane. Another that I like a lot, although it isn't technically a turboprop, is the Real Air Duke.
  14. Me 2. I use Affinitymask=14 on my quad. I wouldn't fly without it. The original poster is all wet.
  15. I don't think I could pick just one, but I can say which one I'm spending the most time with: The Real Air Beechcraft Duke B60. I just haven't wanted to fly much of anything else since I got it. Other serious faves would include Tongass X and Extreme Bush Trekker sceneries, the Lionheart Quest Kodiak, Aerosoft Twin Otter and Beaver.
  16. It's totally worth it. It's just gorgeous. The detail will take your breath away. You'll soon be thinking that you can pick up pebbles from the creek beds. I got it yesterday, and I have been obsessed with it since then.
  17. What you said...I have thought about that. What if you were cruising along in bad weather and the "computer" locked up? Could you still operate the plane? The Kodiak does have backup gauges, but I think it would be tough.
  18. It does take a bit of getting used to. I am accustomed to planes like the Aerosoft Beaver and the Flight One C441 which have traditional gauges and levers. The G1000 struck me as kind of "space age" when I first started flying it, but I got used to it and I find that there is some real convenience to be had with having so much information and control in two screens.Based on the kind of flying that you do, I can't think of a plane that would be better for or more enjoyable to fly. Lionheart's work is just exceptional.
  19. I have it, and I absolutely love it. Two other pilots in my VA have bought in and are equally positive. It is very frame rate friendly and a delight to fly.I posted a review of it on SimFlight's bush flying forum here: Quest Kodiak Review

  21. In recent weeks Eagle Valley Air has opened new hubs in Nepal, New Guinea, Norway, Polynesia and Argentina, providing some of the most challenging and exciting bush flying opportunities in the world. The addition of these new hubs expands our coverage of the bush flying world with our hubs already established in the Pacific Northwest and the Caribbean.Eagle Valley Air and Payette Air Charter are partners in a privately owned virtual airlines offering bush flying to an assortment of international flyers. With over 12 years of bush charter operations we have merged to form a 'bush' flying format around a rock solid financial system (Virtual Airline Financial System). We feel we have found the correct balance in realism and virtual bush flying. We have retained the Eagle Valley Air (EVA) name and logo for business recognition. We have corporate operations at a number of spots around the world and a number of Pilots have leased aircraft to establish their own HUBs and manage their own expenses under the EVA umbrella. An EVA Pilot may fly from any HUB at anytime, but can only be affiliated with a single HUB. While the Pilot gets paid for any flight, the HUB and Eagle Valley Air Inc receives a share of the NET.Eagle Valley Air is always accepting applications. We have no restrictions on your flying habits or superficial minimums for your participation. If you lease your own AC, you must fly enough charters to support the cost of your AC. If you are just getting started, we can assist you.Visit our site at Eagle Valley Air
  22. I want to share a solution I found with you. FS2004 had been running fine on my system for months when it suddenly began to hang up or crash to the desktop at startup. I read a lot of web pages about fixing this problem and tried quite a few of the solutions offered but none of them seemed to work. It was maddening. Then I stumbled upon the following page:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...195&Product=gmsThe part that solved my problem was the section titled "Method 2: Verify that DirectX is installed correctly." When I ran dxdiag, sure enough, my DirectX was broken. I believe that this happened as a result of my testing of a new registry cleaning tool. Anyway, I installed DirectX 9c and my problem was solved. I also disabled the Nvidia helper processes. If you're having this problem, check your DirectXSyd
